Superformance Laps at Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix
It's that time of year again! Time Machines will be sponsoring "parade laps" during the lunch break at the SVRA Vintage event at Watkins Glen on September 8. All SPF cars and owners are invited to take three spirited laps of the famous Glen road course behind the WGI pace car.
There is no cost to participate but all drivers and passengers MUST sign a waiver and attend a briefing before the laps. You may sign up at the Time Machines display in the upper paddock. Look for the large "SUPERFORMANCE" teardrop flag and out sign which will be at the shared space of Time Machines and Olthoff Racing. We will be located in the South Paddock area. We will have Superformance products on display and welcome you to park your SPF at our area. See the SPF GT40 "R" that will be racing supported by Olthoff Racing as well as other SPFs like the 289 Slabside, the FIA and the MK III. No helmets are required and no passing allowed. While these are "parade laps", in the past they have achieved triple digits on the straights so "spirited" is a proper definition. Anyone who violates the rules will be removed from the track by the WGI staff so behave and let's have a ball as usual! The laps will stage starting at the Time Machines display about 11:45 AM Sunday. Once all participants have been cleared and waivers signed we will move to "Baker Gate" and be lead on track about 12:20PM. Need more information? email info@timemachinesauto.com |
The Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix is a great event in itself. There is access to the pits and garage area for spectators, and the photo opportunities - up close - are limitless. All seating is open, including the pit roof! Add to that the opportunity to drive the track during the event on Sunday, and meeting your fellow Superformance owners including our legendary Dennis Olthoff! Oh, and Rick Muck will be there. You might even hear a story from his days with AC Cars :JEKYLHYDE

"Sparky" is well trained, he barks twice when I should be at the corner apex. It's his "hard braking" whimper that gives me trouble.................

I wish your event wasn't so far away. I'd be out there if it wasn't! Larry |

Watching some great vintage racing at Watkins Glen today! Superformance is represented this weekend by Olthoff Racing and Time Machines Motorsports. We have a SPF GT40R running very strong in it's class, and it is ready to run another sprint race tomorrow. Check out the SPF FIA car - it is a beauty :-) The historic Trans-Am series is also on tap tomorrow, with a great representation of Camaros, Mustangs, Javelins and Challengers.
We have some hot laps scheduled for SPF owners over the lunch hour on Sunday. Be sure to call Rick at Time Machines and get in on the action! Jim Kellogg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...807_9-7-13.jpg |

Taken from the passenger seat of a GT40 MK II roadster. Thanks from all to Jim Kellogg for his usual help in organizing the laps with the Watkins Glen staff and for the donuts and coffee. A miserable AM drizzle gave way to a beautiful September day with sun and warmth so the ride home was fabulous! |
