trouble fitting SPF seat sliders
I was able to successfully swap my passenger seat over to the driver's side while making some modifications to make it sit lower with a nice posterior tilt. Very happy with how that turned out.
I figured it wouldn't be difficult to simply drop the seat pre-fitted with the sliders onto the passenger side, but despite lots of swearing and maneuvering there is NO WAY I can get the tracks to fit into the pre-drilled holes that once housed the other seat. I wouldn't expect this to be too difficult since you can order and install the sliders after the cars are built. In this case, I don't know what else to do. I'm trying to avoid drilling out larger holes, but I can't even get the studs to drop into the upper carpeted part all together, let alone fit through the lower aluminum panel holes. Is there something I must be missing here??? Any tricks others know of? Here's my photo of the successfully installed driver's side. For those that are keeping score, I used M8 - 50 size bolts with a couple fender washers and a nut on the back. The original spacers installed up front. Nice improvement in head room and comfort (don't feel like I'm sitting downhill). https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-h...no/%5BUNSET%5D |
In case anybody wishes for an update I finally got my seat installed. A few whacks in carefully calculated areas with a persuasion device and some slight enlargement of one hole eventually did the trick. I immediately gave my daughter a ride after. WooHoo!!!

66gtk,
Need to see some pictures of that beautiful car. Ted |
I am not sure what your goal was to tilt the drivers seat forward or backward?

Tilted back. Made a nice difference. No longer feels like I'm sitting downhill.

Bill, that would have been the easiest route to take. However, if I wanted to keep the adjusters I would have had to purchase 2 new spacers (I would have left the passenger side alone). By doing so, I would have lost some leg room as the sliders will no longer go back as far (they will hit the floor or rear bulkhead sooner), and I also would have lost headroom that I achieved from dropping the seats closer to the floor instead of further away. I wanted a slider seat on the passenger side to obtain ability to move seat forward and back in order to store various things behind the seat if need be. I have no need to slide forward on the driver's side as I'm nearly 6'3".

Troy - that shined up pretty nice. No doubt everyone will see you coming down the road in it.
