What 15" rear tires on your SPF?

Just curious what 15" rear tires most people run on the back of their Superformance.

Stock spec is 275/60/15. Many people run 295/50/15.

Anyone run a 275/50/15?

Maricopa 09-23-2015 10:21 PM

Anyone run a 275/50/15

Essentially unavailable any longer. Only one I could find online to replace my ancient BF Goodrich's was essentially a drag tire.

DWRAT 09-23-2015 10:46 PM

I run a 28-12-15
A 275-50-15 would be way to short (25.83") IMO.

I'm looking at the new MT tires:

ET Street S/S
A street tire that can be driven on the track
Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels

I'm running 295/50/15s on the back of my SPF. They don't make a 295/50, but they do have a 275/50.

Mickey Thompson SR

The closest equivalent to that size in the SS would be 295/55/15.

Why not get the 275-60-15???
I think the 295-55-15 may rub.

Fine...well really not 'fine' for the back but they specifically warn those are not to be used on the front end. Basically a grooved drag slick.

Any wheel well rub with those big meats?

D-CEL 09-24-2015 07:21 PM

Dwrat,

For me, Rubbing is a function of ride height
When the car was blue-white the rear fender lips sat at 28.5 and the at 27.5 it had no rub issues.
Now that the car is silver it sits at 26.75 in the rear and 25.25 in the front.
It rubbed hard (on big bumps) on the inner radius behind the drivers seat
So I cut out and replaced the inner wells with formed aluminum sheet pieces that offer the needed clearance.

In the front I clearanced the quick jack brackets.

But, you would check them your own car.

295-50-15. Lots of room on a Superformance. No rubbing.

I'm running 295/50/15s on the back. My car is set up really low, so I have experienced a little rubbing if I hit a big dip on a road.
