Default Auction prices, Barrett Jackson, Las Vegas

I saw several Cobras go up for auction this past weekend in Las Vegas and all hammered in the thirties. They were nice cars, comparable to mine but the prices seemed soft to me. Is this a good indicator of the market?

IMO, Yes, the market right now is a bit soft for Cobra sales. I know because I sold two premium examples this season. Many good cars that are priced fairly have had difficulty selling as quickly as they may have a year ago. It is an election year so things may change up/down next spring. Right now we are entering discount season for most buyers even without an election. If you want to sell your car quickly your asking price is fair, but you have to lay out all the details and maintenance done to inspire confidence with a potential buyer. Your miles are higher than most you have been finding advertised but that isn't a bad thing to an informed buyer if you can rest him at ease with the details he needs to make an informed purchase. Pictures also go a LONG way to selling a car to a broad market so don't expect to sell a car without good photos.

Looking at your ad again I would have some important questions you need to address upfront which affects value/confidence:

1. Is your engine a Roush? This was a popular engine for your car. Not that it's better, but it does command more money. Who assembled/built your engine? Was it a new engine build, or based on used/seasoned parts? Do you have dyno sheets to back up your power claims?
2. Tremec 5 speed: Is this a TKO 500 or TKO 600 or just a basic T-5. Big difference in value and capabilities for the power you are advertising.
3. Who completed the final assembly, and what has been done since 2007?

Again, your color and stripe combo may be appealing to some and a deal breaker for others. It's imperative that you get the photography correct for that color or it will look bad to those who may be on the fence. It's a tricky color that changes a lot in different lighting. Good luck with the sale. If I were near you I would certainly offer to help you out with the photography.

No, the auction market is often full of curve balls.

You will need some pictures that show the car off, but IMO, you have it priced to sell without all the BS....good luck....bart.

The TV auctions are NOT the place to sell a replica Cobra. Bottom feeder bidders only. Cobra Country, this site and the SCOF site will bring real buyers who pay fair money.
