Removing Louvers
Does anyone know how to remove the side louvers from a Superformance Cobra. The right side is a piece of cake, but the left side is a PITA. I am starting to think that the only way is to remove the brake booster and master cylinder. Has anybody done this or have any ideas. Thanks.

Try removing the access panel in the left front fender well.

If so, are the old ones for sale? I need a new right side for #408....

I have already removed the access panel hoping that was the way to go... unfortunately, it's not. It helps getting the four small bolts that hold the louvers in place out, but now that it's free I can't seem to find the clearance or way to remove the louver.

I am not replacing them, but I do have some s.s. quick jacks that are going to be for sale soon.

"...remove a few bolts in the heat shield to allow a little bit more room for the louvers to be rotated in their tight confines and come out the hole..."

Thanks for your input... I ended up doing exactly that on Monday and got enough space to wiggle out the louver. They are now at my friends shop getting painted to match the body color. Can't wait to get them back and everything buttoned up again.

Please post or send me a photo. I'd like to see how it looks. I have seen a few that were sanded to look like brushed aluminum. Those looked great - initially - but over time looked less than wonderful. Painting them to match the body color or ? should look great...Maybe a shot of one before you install it too...

I like the look of the louvers painted the same as the body color and ordered mine that way from the factory. Here's a shot of how they look.

Nice and subtle change. I like painted louvers too, both of my Cobras louvers matched the car base paint for more of a uniformed look. It was that way on my first and current version for my current car.

I had the Superformance paint code for the titanium already, but my friend with the body shop uses a computer program that is calibrated for Dupont paint rather than PPG. What he did was bring his camera to my house and took several photos using this "computer camera", took it back to his shop plugged it into his program and came up with a match. The hardest part of the project was getting the louvers out of the car and to him... after that it was all gravy. Are you going to do it too Jim? In my mind it allows your eye to sweep over the car without stopping at the stainless steel louvers. It is even more apparent on a car that is a darker color like yours. Just my opinion, and like @$$holes everybody's got one. Here's another look
