Default Locking gas cap

I filled my car last weekend. The cap unlocked and came off as normal. When I tried to reinstall it I could not get the cap to lock. When I got home I was able to get the key to move the cap in both directions when I held it but when I tried it on the filler neck no go. It would not move in either direction. Has anyone encountered this or hav any suggestions?

Thanks

Sometimes one of the tangs will hang up. You can spray some WD-40 down the lock cylinder opening where the key inserts. That might make its way to the tangs. Then just keep wiggling it and it should come off.

On another note, unless you live in a rough area, just ditch the locking cap and install a regular one. The locking caps are a bit of a PITA inside the Lemans cap and really not necessary. We are so used to needing them on our DD's but a Cobra doesn't, IMHO.

Thanks,
Do you have any recommendations As to where and what type of cap I could buy?

I second ditching the LGC, nice to not have fumble with keys to fill up, and the non locker fits easily in your pocket while fueling...

Rick, it is possible to install a "capless fuel filler" cap on a Superformance MkIII...? If so, which ones fit?
