Default SPF rear axle, inner and outer CV joints

Hi!
I have SPF 2234 with the Dana differential. The half shafts have to much play. The inner and outer CV joints are worn out. And now the problem starts...have contacted Hillbank, Olthoff, and Rick Muck but no luck. For the older SPF nothing is on stock and available.
Have someone an advice where i can get it or in which cars they were used?

Thanks,Peter

My car (2028) has 39k miles and the joints are fine, I did have to replace all 4 CV boots last year from cracking.

How many miles is on your car?

I would imagine worse case scenario you could pull the shafts, bring them to a driveshaft shop and see if they can rebuild them?

I have 8.000 miles on it - but lots of spirited montain drives.
Yes, a custum solution will be my last way - but it is extremly expensive in my area :-(

Have you tried DSS? Contact them and see what they can do: https://www.driveshaftshop.com/

I have a Backdraft, but my plan should something go wrong, I was going to take my axles to a drive line shop to have them rebuilt. This is in my opinion what you should do. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised at the cost .

It looks like Superformance used the Tri-Lobe design like a Ford Thunderbird. IIRC, it also used the Ford 8.8 IRS differential.

If it's a 28 spline diff, you could buy a '95 Thunderbird axles for $120 from Rock Auto, and then swap the axle shafts. That's what FFR builders did for decades.

You can get new ones from DSS. I'd be willing to bet it will be the Porsche 930 style. Which, IMO, is an improvement. That will cost you about $1,700 for the pair. More expensive, but you get what you pay for here. And, they are easily rebuildable.

Hi!
Thanks a lot for all inputs :-)
Decided to go the expensive way - a custom solution.

Hi Peter,
you probably progressed well now solving this problem. CV joints are "off the shelf" parts, from i.e. GKN.

I found that the ones I use on my cars are from a 2.0 Jetta FWD (same as Porsche 911). Price range from €35 to €350, each.

There is a youtube vid showing how people polish the 911 parts before installing. Well worth in a heavy duty application.

Hi Dominik!
You are right - the inside is a GKN but i was not able to find the outside...after a longer search i gave up and went with a custom solution. The result is great and in the future i know what i need for outside and inside. But should be a long term solution :-)
Greetings from Austria,
Peter
