Need new 17" tires

Thanks for all the help so far.

The Superformance Cobra I just bought has the original tires on it. I would like recommendations for new 17" tires. I will not be driving in the winter months and do not plan to drive in the rain, but we all know it can happen. I think I will only put about 1,500 miles on a year so I am not worried about wearing them out, I expect them to age out before I wear them out. The more grip the better. I only plan on doing street driving, no track use.

I have been thinking about Toyo Tire PROXES R888R's. Is anybody running them? What are you using, do you like them?

I am going to try nitto nt555g2. The mustang guys like them.

For 2021 you also now have the option of NT555R2 drag radials
for the rear. Designed to be paired with 555G2's in front.

The rear R2's for 15", 17", 18" wheels stand at 28" tall.
That adds a nice 1" rake to the stance if you like that look.

Sizes??? Many tires come in limited sizes.
315/35/17 and 255/40/17
I've tried:
Nitto R555 300 compound, good street tire, just not up to 570hp/585tq.
Nitto NT-01 by far stickiest non-drag radial, 100 compound, handles best, no good wet (wouldn't recommend driving on wet roads at all).
FFR recommends:
Toyo (sister companies BTW) Proxies R888R, 100 compound, sticky, good in rain, everyone says they are too noisy. Yes, people in Cobras. I've never tried them.
Tire pressures: 22 psi for these in a Cobra.
Drag radials are not recommended for lateral loads, so if you are going to do any cornering, manufacturers do not recommend.

The car currently has 275/40R17 front and 315/35R17 rear, 335/35R17 will also fit.

The NT-01 and R888 come in your sizes. The NT555Rs are all drag radials now. The NT555RII is available in your sizes. Check out their websites.

I decided on Nitto NT05's . Had them on for about a month, so far so good. Much better grip than my old tires.

I second the Nitto NT05. 200 treadwear so they are sticky, but not so sticky they throw crap onto your fenders.
I’ve had mine for a few years. Real happy.

I now have the R888rs on my car. They are not noisy compared to the NT-01, except when they start to push. They probably push a little easier, but they will work if you get caught in the rain.

That seems strange. Didn't Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 come OEM on cars with staggered tire sizes? (Porsche...)

I read this on Tirerack: "Half mileage for rear if different size than front" (I'm researching staggered tires for my wife's SUV - looking at PS4-SUV from Michelin)

A tangent, but speaking of SUVs and Michelins, I recently put new Michelin CrossClimates on my Grand Cherokee - very happy with them. (all 4 the same size, though)

I’m looking for tire selection too. I’m coming off the Nitto 05r, and they are “ok”. I notice they are not as sticky compared to the risk of driving and coming up to a puddle. They are definitely designed for drive to and from the track. Nothing more. Running on 17s

I think I will looking more of a street tire.

Does anyone know how the Nitto 05r compare to the 05?
