"Polished Stainless Side pipes"

Who makes the best for "Superformance" IE: performance, fit, finish and looks. Websites would be appreciated.
TIA,

I got mine from Stainless Specialties in FLA.Their pipes were patterned from stock SPF pipes.
Last i knew,they came in two flavors-loud & louder.

Here's their address.I guess they moved to Tenn.

I would suggest that you contact Ron Roberts, a fellow SPF owner. He makes a set of exquisite pipes and cuts no corners, they are a work of art. If you are a SCOF member you can contact him through there. If you aren't post here for him or PM me and I'll have him contact you.

Here is Ron Roberts Web Site, pics of his pipes and a phone number

Thanks Craig, I couldn't remember the name when I posted earlier. I remembered later in the shop and was going to post it, but you beat me to it.

Thanks all so far, anymore??

I went with the "loud" Stainless Steel Specialities" pipes because they fit my limited budget. Seat-of-the-pants dyno says they improved performance. They look great and have not turned yellow.

Only drawback for me is they have a very slight downturn at the tips which can really pi??-off the '32 Ford :D parked next to you at the car show when someone asks you to "fire-it-up" so they can hear your engine and you blow gravel all over the '32.

If I went with them I'd ask if they can make sure the tips are 100% perpendicular to the ground. Just my thoughts.

Whichever way you go, you'll be glad you did.

Best

Terry,
When you ordered from Stainless Specialties, did the sidepipes come ready to bolt up to your SPF? Also, I've heard that polished ones run hotter than ceramic coated ones. Any paint problems from the heat?

Terry Brown 10-29-2006 05:08 PM

Jim:

Bolted right on. No apparent heat problems. Did have to drop the right motor mount a little bit but it was not a big issue. I think my out the door price was around $2500 but I ordered some extreme heat shields which extend from in front of the mufflers to within 6" of the exhaust tip. I believe their pipes alone price is under $2000.

I couldn't be more pleased with the exception of the tip being very slightly tipped down. Not a problem visually but it does scatter gravel, dirt, leaves, etc:CRY: !

Jim:

You will also have to attach the rear mounts to the muffler/pipe to connect to the frame. I had my local welder use the original brackets and weld them on after the pipes were mounted.

You should also consider having O2 sensors installed by the pipe manufacturer. Makes it much more efficient when you go to the dyno or use an O2 meter. I think about $25 ea. I think they take an 18mm pipe plug when not in use.

Just some thoughts.......

Thanks for the info Terry.
I'm on the fence. I think improved performance and a more aggressive exhaust note would be fun but I can barely hear my passenger as it is.
I just don't know.

Jim,
It's a Cobra. Really, its okay to have fun and save the conversations for the other car. And, yes, you do know, the question never goes away, it just keeps resurfacing till you do it. Hahahahah. :D

Duane, I think you're right. It's seems inevitable. I may as well give in now and up the grin factor a bit.:D

Terry, all I can say is:...sweeeet! :)

SJK2 11-01-2006 04:51 AM

Terry,

Those are indeed NICE.........

Calbullet 02-19-2007 10:20 AM

Terry, did you have to lower the engine mount to install the sidepipes or did you have to lower and leave it lowered to fit??

Mel

greg schroeder 02-19-2007 02:23 PM

I like mine from www.buckshotracefab.com

Here they are with 17 inch wheels on the car.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._pipes_17s.JPG

Here's how they look in motion with 2100 ft air.
Buckshot Racefab side pipes in motion

Here's a recent dyno chart
475.3 wheel HP

If you get some I should mention the new pipes required an additional 3 jet sizes up primary and secondary to maintain the same air fuel ratio as the Superformance side pipes.

Terry Brown 02-19-2007 03:46 PM

Mel:

I had to leave it lowered. It was only one side and it was the beefier Olthoff replacement.

I understand the Stainless Steel Specialties drop the tips very slightly to focus the increased sound away from the driver/passenger.

Hope that helps.

Calbullet 02-19-2007 04:11 PM

Terry thanks for the info, don't know if I could lower my mount, pretty tight fit as it is

Greg are those the two piece sidepipes, which pipes are they,, the street, or performance ones, your vid sound great
