Engine mounts with less movement?
I have polyurithane mounts on my small block. They move too much and the side pipe will touch the fiberglass were the bend comes out the side on hard acceleration. The mounts look to be this type sold on summitracing.com.
Does anyone have these? I found them in a search in relation to this thread. Do these fit the superformance? In relation to this thread. |

I have Superformance poly mounts for FE's or 460/514 http://craigayl.home.comcast.net/mc/parts/mount.htm But not for the Windsors You can get those form Olthoff Racing. http://www.olthoff-racing.com/ Craig |

put a 1/4 " spacer under the right side mount and the problem is solved

Greg,
I have the Olthoff mounts. These work well and there's no problems with the pipes hitting the body. Jim 1855 |
I sent an image of my type of mounts to the Olthoffs. I'm waiting their review to see if their mount has less movement. I'll probably just buy a set from them when they reply, but I don't know what their unit looks like.

SWI custom mounts
Hi Greg
I manufacture the SWI custom engine mounts for the small block SPF cars. The polyurethane SWI engine mount will elimate "ALL" unwanted engine movement "without" transmitting harsh vibrations to the cockpit. Please feel free to contact me and I will send you a set for your inspection and installation. Thanks Rod rodscobra@shaw.ca |

Greg, Looking good!
Now lets see that 10second pass!! Thanks again for your business. Rodney rodscobra@shaw.ca |
Greg,
I noticed in your photo that it appears you have a braided line rubbing against a brake or fuel line tubing....That is a potential BIG problem as the braided line acts like an abrasive disk and can cause a failure in the tubing. A little section of rubber hose on the tubing where they touch cures the problem... Blas |
Do the Olthoff urethane engine mounts make a noticeable difference? I'm going with a Windsor motor and I'm wondering if it's worth buying the engine mounts for a new install. Besides the cost, is there any downside?
Thanks, Doug |
Doug
I have installed the urithane mounts in many Superformance cars, as well as my own. In my opinion, they are a must . Less engine roll helps prevent wheel hop . Less engine roll helps safe guard pipes from hitting the body . Because of their construction the poly mounts can not seperate. . The poly will not settle like rubber. The mount itself is an Energy Suspension part. What Olthoff offers is and adaptation for your Windsor engine in a SPF. Well worth the money IMO Craig |
Thanks Greg! I'll give Olthoff a call on Monday.

Here are my old mounts that let the pipes move enough to hit the body. I guess it depends how much power the car has before you look for something with less movement.
