Club Cobra - oil temp guage

Do you have an oil cooler? Typically an engine will not develop much oil temp if driven on the street with an oil cooler. If you have an oil cooler try blocking it off. I typically put duct tape directly onto the cooler. BTW you want you oil temperature to be around 210 degrees F.

Just get a few sheets of aluminum foil out of the kitchen and wrap your oil cooler front nice and tight. Then take your car out and compare. I'm betting your problem will still be there. Then, if you pull your bulb out and put it a pot of boiling water that you just took off the stove, I'm betting your problem will still be there. Then, when you finally buy an entirely new replacement gauge and put it in, you're problem will be gone... unless you damage the capillary tube trying to fish it back from the dash, through the grommet, then you realize it's way too long, so you take it back out, wind the excess tube in a circle, realize you can't fish the circle through the dash, so you undo the circle, but you hear a hiss from somewhere, but you install the gauge anyway, and then when you get it completely installed it doesn't work. Your oil cooler will cause a delay in the oil warming up, and will keep the oil temperature cooler on the street, but it will not cause erratic temperature readings. I put an easily removable cover over mine and you can read about how I did it here: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/era-...ml#post1507461 and then I dressed it up a bit so it looked a little more trick... but I never had erratic readings. Wrap it up with aluminum foil, that's an easy test.:cool:

And yes, that's the cover over the oil cooler. Those little black holes in it are all fake. In fact, the whole damn car is fake. :cool:
