Roush Motors Prices??

Can someone tell me where to find price info on Roush Motors? Preferably a turnkey price w/SPF.

Thanks Craig

That is going to vary by retailer and content of the motor.

Do your homework here as the motors come with varying options (valve covers , pulleys, hp,FI etc)
Be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Marc

Ps. some retailers for Superformance and Roush Motors is Hillbanks in CA.,Olthoff in NC. There is another in Ohio area but their name escapes me at this time.

Roush 427 = $14,500, polished at $1,000.

I would think a new SPF with Roush 427sr/tw polished could be had in a new spf for $63k. granted they will start at 69K but once they know you are serious, heck maybe even $60k.

Try Smeding Performance in your backyard.

Same motor, same warranty, $5,000 cheaper.

Thanks. I have already talked to Ben and will most likely go that route. Just wanted to find out what all the buzz was about with Roush. Still trying to find someone to do the install here locally. Also, sometimes you can work a deal with the dealer for aturnkey, something they may already have in stock anjust add the motor and tranny.

You should also check out Keith Craft - he builds a lot of outstanding motors for the cobra crowd - including Kirkham. He also builds turnkey Superformance cars and is offering something in the mid to high $50's.

Just a note ...from what I can see this one does not come with water pump ,starter, alternator, pulleys and belts nor air cleaner.

All of which the Roush crate engine does . Now all those parts may only come up to $1500 to $2000 plus install just making a note is all.;)

Craig, get the motor from Smeding and go across the street to GT Auto. Gary has installed many motors and is very well versed on Superformance installs

Hello Craig,
Looking at your zip you're Sacramento/Roseville or higher. If you can handle a yellow MkIII it can be had for 37k+ with your Roush SR and labor, you're looking at $61K 0r 62K. I and many others here have had Stephen at Full Throttle Performance in Reno do the install and check everything else out. 209

Thanks 209! I have seen the yellow at Dynamic Auto West (On-line), if that's the one you are talking about. To be honest, yellow is not my color :). I'm pretty stuck on Titanium and Indigo Strips. The more I read about Roush and the price, I'm leaning towards going with a builder local, Smeding's 427 Cobra Special. I know Smeding doesn't have the name of Roush but Smeding builds a great motor and has a great reputation around these parts and sends motors all over the world. I like the idea of a hand built motor for thousands less than a Roush. Now if I can only find a local installer :)

Thanks Calbullet, that's what I was looking for. Do you know if he will also install the tranny and set up the car???? Also, is there anyone out there that has used GT Auto for their install??? Were you happy with his work???

When I bought my car from Dynamic in Reno, they fully recommended both Full Throttle and GT for the install. I went with Stephen at Full Throttle, but I've heard great things about Gary at GT.

BTW - Stephen at Full Throttle will install any motor you want, it doesn't have to be a Roush. He also does excellent work.

Thanks Doug, much appreciated. I will call Gary at GT and also call Stephen for prices.

Mine came with a Roush 427IR, which I've seen quoted at about $23-25K.

I was at the Shelby plant two weeks ago and was very impressed with their 351W and 427 aluminum block factory. Worth checking out.

Craig,

Not sure if you've been on the Vintage Motorsports site, but they show list price information for different Roush motors and TKO transmission configurations.

Roush = resale value.

Maybe, but if you look at some of the used SPF cars for sale right now with Roush motors, I see no indication that they are selling for more than KC or any other 427W, non EFI. Some Roush resale for more, some for less. Resale is really up to what someone is willing to pay for any given car. Show me a book valve on any of these cars? Someone may want a more period correct car with an FE motor and would be willing to pay more for that, others don't really care about correctness and just want a 302SB. Without a true book valve, there is no way to tell and it's really wide open.

Just a note on the Roush motor warranty, if you should have an issue that requires the motor to be removed for service the Roush Warranty covers this from one of there retailer/installers.

Don't know if the other builders would re inburse for labor to remove and reinstall if needed for warranty.
