G'day guys,
All this info is great , Scott, I'm definitly going towards the Jerico as the time the car will be on the track will far outway its street time,it certainly appears to be the better of the 2 boxes but i'm sure somebody will jump to the Richmonds defence. Rick, In order ,the car will be 80% track, 10%1/4 mile -10% street. H/power is a bit of an unknown at present but the numbers on this package will be well in excess of 600 and torque of 500+ft/lb, clutch is McCleod, and the tyres will suit the days activities. Please excuse my lack of technical knowledge i'm leaving it all to somebody else at present although i'm getting educated. once again you guys are a wealth of knowledge, Regards Paul |
The owner of Unique Cobras used a Richmond behind their Ernie Elliot NASCAR 358W. Allen told me because of the shifting problems it cost them a Run and Gun a few years ago. If you are going to spend that kind of money, a Jerrico is the only way to go.

Rick, I don't think your clutch was the problem, I bet its the tranny. Funny thing was, when I blew up my tremec, the stock ford motorsport clutch looked like it was brand new. I couldn't believe it. I thought for sure all along that I would ware out or break the clutch. The road race tremec is fine splined so I had to go with a different disk and replaced the preasure plate just to be safe. On light cars such as a Cobra, you don't need a king kong clutch. Is this a safe assumption? Would a stock clutch be recommended on a mild FE with a TKO? These questions are asked out of total ignorance of Cobra clutch requirements. :)

Hi Scott The trouble a have with my trans was 2 problems, First when my engine passes 180 degrees on the engine the trans will not shift. I have driven my car at 60 to 80 mph in St. Lious Run&Gun and the shifting works perfect as long as the temp stays down. I have a 180 thermostat in the engine. It doesn't matter what gear it is in when this problem starts I have broken every spring clip on the shifter rods at the trans during this problem The shifter works fine and is adjusted as pre richmond gear. I have talked to tech and they said it is not the trans. Second problem is when the trans is cool it will not shift under wide open throttle with or without the clutch. If you unload the drivetrain for a split second it shifts fine with or without the clutch The clutch is a centerforce gold. 11 inch Everything is brand new when a brought it. I am trying a G-Force to fix the problem. I centered the bellhousing and replaced the pilot bushing twice, once with a bearing and then with a bronze bushing still the same problem. I will find this problem out 1 day when I have the time. Rich Lake
