I used the Mustang 8.8 rear and converted it to disc brakes. I have the Coy's Wheels.

When I was building my CMC, I used a 93 Mustang 8.8 and converted it to 5 lug using Ranger axles. I got rear caliper mounts from Forte and added the 11.65" Cobra rear disk brakes. If you use the 94 and newer unit, it is 1.5" wider (if I recall) due to the anti-lock brake rings on the axles.

I think I then had it narrowed a few inches on each side and used Moser rear axles to get a wider tire under the rear.

Thanks guys

I understand the front suspension is a little to wide and maybe rims will correct that. What front end and rims are you guys running?

I bought a '94 rear end and installed it. I had a pair of 9 1/2' Team III rims in the back room, so today I put them on and took a few measurements. Looks like I need to cut the rear down 2" to have room for big tires.


This one has a FE in it and it's going to be a challenge to get that big motor in
After looking at it for a couple of hours today I decided to move the motor back 2" - 3" and down 2" or so. That is the only way this big block will fit under the hood.

I used a 93 Mustang GT rear. The rear end width is uncut and otherwise unmodified. I have SSBC 12" rotors and calipers all around. The rear Halibrand 17" wheels have Nitto 555 drag radials 275/40/17. With the Mustang 8.8 factory width you can't put a larger tire on the back of a Street Beast without narrowing, modifying the trunk fiberglass or running the risk of tires contacting the fender's.
The stock Mustang II front width required me to go with maximum wheel back spacing where as the rear was just the opposite with the wheels dished.

Agreed on the look. I was thinking those might be about right for my West Coast to replace the 15" Torq Thrust wheels.

I took the long way around when setting up the wheel and tire combo on my car wanting the look of an original. Was told to shy away from pin drives for the street next best thing once I found the correct back spacing and dish for both front and rear wheels not to mention where the tire sets in the fender opening. Had custom a-arms built for the front also to help with getting the correct alignment spec. The 9" was narrowed for the correct look ordered wheels from PS Engineering.

I'm still in the process of building mine. I used a 94 8.8 rear end with disc brakes. I found a company that made a conversion to add brackets and Moser 5 bolt axles to bring it down to fox body dimensions. I used a Heidts mustang II tubular front suspension, my steering column is a smooth Ididit column and mustangII pedal assy. Last month I finally got it wired and right now a friend is helping me go through the dif. (The backlash was off) as soon as that's done the body goes on.

Just as a side note. Check out Pete's Garage on youtube. He is documenting his Street Beasts build on there. He has heaps of other helpful tips on car repairs and building. Highly recommend. Will
