Operation Comfort Update
Texas Cobra Club
Update on Operation Comfort - Lone Star Classics build.
The car was completed and the base coat color sprayed. Unfortunately just this past week there was an incident while prepping the car for stripes and the car suffered front end body damage.
The most important fact is no one got hurt. The individuals involved feel bad as we all can imagine, so we do not want to add to their feelings. It was an accident (which many of us know happen!) and as said above, fortunately no one was hurt.
With the damage extent (Front clip) and considering this will be an auctioned car the decision is to replace the full body. We have worked with Brian at Lone Star to get another body (at cost) and are putting together a trip to deliver and support the initial body swap (early September we expect). More to come on that as we get the date and details planned. The cost of all the parts is expected to be around $4K, and then the prep/paint process will have to be completed again.
With the above in mind, and the fact that limited progress on a 2010 kit donation has been made, we are suggesting that TCC's 2010 Operation Comfort drive should be towards the completion of the Lone Star Classics 427. Specifically working to donate towards the repair parts and any incurred cost of painting.
Kelly and Tony are working a 2nd annual "Feel Good Twice" event that is tentatively planned for September 18th however there are many details to be worked out. This is the car show/take a ride in a Cobra event that we were able to raise $1,500 for Operation Comfort.
If you can find it in your budget to help with donations for finishing of the LSC 427 Cobra please pm me. Thanks again to everyone for their generosity and remembering the "Wounded Warriors"
Thanks again,
Bill Swendsen
