This place sells historic race decal kits and they have the Cobra Decal Kits here

http://www.racelinedigital.com/store...ort=20a&page=1

This is the only one that I see and its the 1964 289 FIA World Championship decal kit.

I didnt look through all these pages but heres all the stripe kits they offer since you are just wanting the stripe.

Default FIA Hood Stripe

I assume you mean the one that goes across the hood from fender to fender. I had mine painted on locally. I did not trust the manufacturer (Superformance) to do it right even though they assured me they would. My fear was that since 99% of the stripes they paint go from front to back , that they would screw it up ( Murphy's Law) . As I recall, they reduced the price of the roller by $6oo and the local shop did a perfect job for $300 and I got EXACTLY what I wanted....a Gurney CSX 2323 look( red stripe). I considered a tape but there was always a concern about the tape quality and application.

Honestly tape isnt the best route. Decals will peel if not appllied correctly, not to mention the sun will bleach it out over time and it will become dull. Then theres that raised lip that you will feel when you touch the car.

What I planned on the Coupe I plan to get in the future is do the stripes in paint. Only thing I wont do is the sponsors, I will have an airbrush artist paint those on and then I will clear coat over the whole thing. You will still get the raised lip but nice thing about clear coat is you can sand it down get a nice slick smooth finish then buff it back out and never notice it.

I honestly thought about doing a replica of a car that exsisted but desided that out of 5-6 cars built I would cobble my own design together by taking what I liked best out of all of the cars and combine them into one. Paint will be something of my own design since it doesnt replilcate one specific vehicle. Only thing is I just dont know why on my paint design cards I did why I choosed a double "team stripe" for the coupe when they all had a single solid "victory stripe". Oh well it looks good in my opinion on the cards I did.

But back on topic, I wasnt sure what stripes he was talking about. The Stripe link I provided they sell both the fender to fender horizontal FIA stripe as well as the convential front to back stripe.

Thanks for the lead. the only reason for tape is if I don't like is, I'll take it off.

Yep thats the upside to the tape. What I did was I got some free line drawings of the Daytona Coupe which is fairly simmilar to the Type 65 Coupe that FFR offers I am looking at. I then went into MS Paint and used photos of actual paint chips and colored the car in to get ideas on the color combo. That is how I am able to settle on something that I am sure would look good.

Example this is the color combo I keep coming back to but I am still not 100% sure on the colors. I have around 50 differet color combos like below ranging from Ford colors of 1956 to 1969 and Chevrolet colors from 1963/64 to 1969 as well.

I was able to find line drawings like the above of the Cobra Roadsters as well. If you had the time you could do the same and it would give you an idea atleast.

Default more stripes....

As *13* says above, laying the stripe out on the car is difficult to get the proportions right. It isn't just a 4" stripe accross the nose. The width has to vary over the fender flairs or it will look weird. We went in to our painters shop and laid it out ourselves to be sure. It needs to be painted on, you won't be sorry.

Yes, everything is painted. Three coats of each color and then three coats of clear on top. It was sanded between each coat of color and clear, you cannot detect an edge when you rub your hand across. All colors are 2004 VW paint codes.
