Default First Saturday cruise (N Texas)

Hwy 455 is one of the more popular MC roads with good surfaces, a number of twisties, good scenery and enough straight aways to "clear the carbs out." I'm not familiar with the road West of I-35 but from there past 75 (Central) is a blast! After the run(s) we could eat at the Prarie House @377 and 380 to review SD plans and discuss for anyone else that might have an interest.

Any interest?

Texas Farm to Market 455 (FM455) runs between Anna at SH75 and Sanger at IH-35.

Never driven it, sounds fun.

Early start before the blast furnace gets rolling?
What's the skinny on FM455 access as it crosses the dam at Lake Ray Roberts?
(I have yet to see an accessible "dam" road other than Hoover since 9/11)

I've driven FM455 hundreds of times.Literally.

From where it ends on the East end at 121 to the West end at Montaque.

It is a great ride that includes a change in views from trees, creeks and valleys to open ranch land in the West. Lots of twists and elevation chaanges the whole length.

Y'all really should not cut yourselves short on a well know road.

"West siders" could jump on over there and meet up somewhere in the middle?

Good road across Ray Roberts.,

I would love to meet up with everyone but not sure all the little issues will be taken care of by then. Need to find the short in the front lights, need inspection completed and need plates! Maybe next month I will join up with you.

Default excuse me

but the purpose of the first saturday meet was to have all people that had an interest in this hobby could sit down, meet people and discuss things. Might I suggest that that idea continue. Since the westsiders were mentioned maybe they could name this months meet...maybe Arlington or further west and see who comes.

Its not the cars...it's the people!

I couldn't help from jumping in and saying that I have been traveling around Texas on vacation for the last 3 weeks and at present in Garland for 2 days, and this whole time have been treated with the most respect and have met the most friendly people that I can remember. The countryside is more beautiful than I imagened and the highways with a nice picnic area every 10 miles or so. The Farm to Market roads I have found lead to some pretty interesting areas, and all your loop roads are a little hard to get used to, but all in all I'm having a blast. Wish the Cobra was here. Tomorrow it's Dallas for siteseeing then?.....Just wanted to say hi and for " You All" (the all say that to me) on you ride.

Thumbs up Jay's Perspective

Thanks for the reminder Jay.

Westsiders pitch the place and time and all presently with or without cobra's can attend. Cruises can be organized for the run home.

FM455 looks like a great time and has Fred's stamp of approval, but cuts H-Rod, Aedds, Shawn K. and others out. Let's postpone the 455 cruise until next weekend, or the following.

Suggestion, meet at I35 and Hwy 455 at 8:30 am, cruise over west of Sanger down to Boiiva, south to Ponder on FM 156, on to Hwy 114 go east to Grapevine and have our monthly lunch meeting at Talbert’s. This would be about a 100 mile cruise to Grapevine to arrive about 10:30.

Default Eagle's Canyon on FM455.

455 is the road to Eagles Canyon Raceway. Runs right by it. Lots of stinkin bikers. Very twisty with hills, you'll spill anything without a lid; Oh, and be light getting back into the throttle...(don't ask me how I know that little bit of useless info, it was u g l y).
Have fun,
Paul

As always I'm flexable but I did call the Prairie House and they allow conversation, visiting and the exchange of ideas and stories.

I'm committed to Cars and Coffee ie' meeting old friend there but if you do Prairie House for lunch of somewhere not to much further will try to attend that. I agree on Jay's comments that 1st Saturday should be reserved for a breakfest or lunch gathering for all to sit down and talk. Love the cruises and 3 other weekends in the month to plan those and we usually are looking to do something those weekends anyway. Heck I haven't had my Cobra out since AER car show.....

Angry Summer has arrived!

Historically the DFW group usually switches to breakfast for June, July, August and maybe September because of the heat. If you all that have a need for speed, then around 9:00 am, haul out after breakfast for the highways & byways...Or blast over to Cars & Coffee to show and shine. Now, that I've said that...We're going to a dance recital at 9:00 am to enjoy tu-tu's vs. Rooty-Tootie Fresh 'n Fruities, or lip smackin' bar-b-q....damn it! You all have fun. Maybe we'll see some of you at the Cooper Clinic Autos in the Park show Sunday, or tomorrow night on Forest Lane...http://www.cruiseforest.com/. Peace!

Larry,

I'm confused which doesn't take much at my age......is the Forest Lane cruise Saturday night as it seems to suggest at the site or tomorrow night (Thursday) per your post?

Well...I clicked into their Facebook page and see it is Saturday night. Also there appears to be a cruise in at Kellers Friday night....boy lots of things to do this weekend if you are game!

Rain or shine... 1st Saturday must remain a Meet & Greet, and I think even October has been a breakfast venue once or twice. I recall my first 1st-Saturday with the group before I even had a namesake on Club Cobra... a fateful day for sure. I recall 1st-Saturdays to follow, hitching rides here and there, in the days before landing HM1038 in my garage.

Sounds like we will miss Gary S. and Larry R, but lets show the Westsiders some love.
Court? Richard? Jerry? Joe? - somebody west of Marsh Lane pick a mid-cities breakfast venue.

I was just reading the Forest Lane Cruise reunion on Facebook and this sounds like a really cool event. Before my time in Dallas but it appears in the 60s through the earlier 80s this was the cruise and drag scene for Dallas. They are expecting 450 cars to show up at this reunion Saturday night hosted by several of the businesses on Forest Lane. Looks like the headquarters is between Marsh and Webbs Chapel on Forest Lane...might be cool to drive down too if you don't have other plans Saturday night. With the heat forecast for Saturday I'm sure most of us will be home by 11am Saturday am...
