Unless your float level is too high, they have little to do with sloshing into the venturi on deceleration.
High float level and long tubes may work, but the main well would get uncovered, then a stall condition of lean return to idle may exist.

You should have bowl vent whistles fitted to both bowls, jet extensions on the secondary with a notched float, and the float levels just under the sight plug.
Thanks for your feedback on this issue. As I'm sure you can tell I didn't graduate summa cum laude in carburetor tuning If you notice from the photos I linked I have bowl vent whistles installed. The folks at AED specialize in performance tuning carburetors so I've been trying to take their advice on this. They told me that they've had folks put on rear jet extenders when they've had a problem like mine and it's fixed the problem??

I did notice yesterday when I started the car it didn't want to idle very well until the motor warmed up some. Maybe to lean

Anyway I appreciate your feedback on this. I'm probably going to try and richen it up just a little to smooth out the cold idle.
