I got T-boned yesterday pics

Saturday morning Ron Ice and I were taking the cobras out to a short ride in preparation for Sundays breakfast run to Tor C New Mexico. On our way home a GMC Sierra pulled out in front of me at a cross street.... bang........he said "I did not see you". So time became still could not figure out how to use my cell to call 911....a passer by told me he would call 911. Ron witness the crash on his review mirror and turned around....came to me checking my breathing, cognitive abilities ect. He convinced me to go to hospital since my left leg was hurting & my lower back had a cut. After many x-rays no major issue were found...was sent home w/2 RX..kind of feel like a bus ran over me. Emotionally ....it feels just as bad when my dog passed away.

This morning Craig Small, Karl Busch, & Ron Ice came over and we looked cobra and discussed options and all the"thank God....." I have received many calls of support from our members and has been very helpful in dealing with this situation. It became very apparent that the brotherhood that evolved around the great little car is a huge gift of caring and support ...I don't feel alone in dealing with my loss.

Now I just have to wait for the GMC's insurance to contact me. I will keep every posted on the future events of this painful situation.

Im sorry to see that, I really hope every thing works out for you.

jayscobras 07-17-2011 03:26 PM

that sucks

Just glad you are well. Cars don't mean a thing, they can be replaced. Good friends can't.

Jay

Wow, that sucks. Sure glad you're OK. It wouldn't have taken much for it to be a lot worse.

I was going to say... You have good friends...you beat me too it! Good to hear you are going to be ok. Seems like every time I drive someone tries to pull out in front of me, or into me. Beats me how someone can't hear a basically open pipe v-8 coming towards them. I'm just glad I don't have to rely on it as my daily driver. How do those guys who drive S2000's & BMW's do it every day w/o getting killed? Take care & hopefully the TBone Head has good insurance!!! I had a friend recently get hit. The guy who hit him completely apologized & admitted fault. When my buddy called his insurance company the next day the guy had pulled a reversal & blamed my buddy for the whole incident. It's a real sh#%@y world out there sometimes.

rodneym 07-17-2011 04:01 PM

Wow.
We're all really sorry to hear that.
Sometimes these moments of luck (good and bad) can put things in perspective.
Hang in there.

Jim Werth 07-17-2011 04:03 PM

My son had the same thing happen. He was hit in a parking lot. Other driver admitted 100 percent his fault. Got there just a he was about to leave. Told the police to put in the report about the other driver admitting fault. Sure enough about a week later his insurance called me ,because I was on the title too, saying it was a 50/50 fault accident. They won't pay for anything. I told them we have access to store security tapes of the accident and they better check the police report. After hiring a lawyer they finally paid up. Still took about a year. Jim

Look like the FF chassis did good, considering what ran into you. Glad you are OK.

mln385 07-17-2011 04:09 PM

Wow!!! Glad you were not seriously injured more than bruised and sore. Great to see you have some good friends looking to help you out.

Hope you are back on the road again soon...

SoTxButler 07-17-2011 04:43 PM

Sorry for the loss Charles...but thankfully, you are OK.

The car is a sad loss but you're still here and you got some good friends. That's what it's all about. Hope it all goes smoothly with the insurance company.

jshel1 07-17-2011 05:02 PM

Charles,

So glad you were not hurt more seriously. I echo Jay and Rodney's sentiments. Keep us posted on on your recuperation and the restoration.

In spite of how much attention we get at stoplights and in parking lots, the inattentive driver that Charles was sharing the road with should remind us all of how low, little and invisible we are when moving in traffic.

Be careful out there and trust yourself more than the other guy.

Racer_X 07-17-2011 05:12 PM

Glad to hear you are ok! The car can be replaced, you cannot.

mtpockets 07-17-2011 06:48 PM

We'll say prayers for a quick recovery. 6' further back and it could have been lots worse.

Agreed! Leaving an impression of your face on his grill, while being eerie for him to see, would have been much, much worse:eek:! Glad you're OK.

Look on the bright side... now you can fix all those issues you would have done differently;).

Naumoff 07-17-2011 08:26 PM

Glad you're ok. A little bruised but ok

Francis 07-17-2011 08:33 PM

Glad to hear you are well. Be sure to take those RX, you will feel the pain tomorrow...

Also, I am sure you're already planning to do this, but be sure to contact YOUR insurance provider, and give them the details. They can be quite the advocate as they understand the specialty car business.

The other insurance Co./agent appraiser will have no clue, as there is no repair instruction guide to produce a repair (or loss) estimate. They're going to look at it and scratch thier head.
Francis

Dirty Harry 07-17-2011 08:43 PM

Thank God you're ok. The impact was to a substantial part of the car's structure. If that impact had been directed on your door latch, you probably would have been hurt much worse.

tin-man 07-17-2011 10:03 PM

Another three feet..............

Charles, Its times like these when we all believe in a higher power and his guardian angels assigned to look after each of us, yours were on high alert and did an outstanding job considering if they had let you drive just a little faster and your car was three feet ahead of where the impact occurred you door side and you could have been in a world of hurt, big time. The car is not material whereas you are priceless.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope the guys insurance covers the costs associated with the incident.

With respect, tin-man
