First Saturday meet 08/04
Who knows of a spot for brunch somewhere in the "middle" and also avoid the DFW mess? Grapevine? Any ideas?

Wherever we go, count us in for two cars and three people. Court |
There's an Orginal Pancake House in Plano at the Dallas North Toll road just east on 121, one in Addison also...A nice I-Hop in the Colony on 121 Expressway. We use to also go to Cafe Brazel (great coffee) at George Bush and Coit. I agree with staying far away from the DFW airport area as that is a ball buster for traffic. Not sure where the middle is as we have folks coming from Rockwall, McKinney, North Dallas, Desoto Plano, Frisco, Colony, Lewisville, Fort Worth, Weatherford and on and on and on..........**)

How about Our Place in Mansfield. House of Hot Rods is nearby I am looking into getting a tour for Saturday, they are not normally opened on Saturdays but might make an exception for us.

House of Hot Rods tour is no good, they are already committed to go to cars and coffee this Saturday

But then again, Court's suggestion is a 2218 mile round trip, so maybe Plano isn't so bad afterall.. :) Seriously, something in "the middle" would be great.. |
Geez it's Hot!
How does this location grab you all?
IHOP Restaurantmore 900 Market Place Irving, TX 75063 (214) 574-7100 It is about a half mile west of Geo. Bush at MacArthur (north side) In Irving Tx. We've had other breakfast meetins there in the past...but we need to get there early to beat the heat and the crowds. Chime in if this appeals to all. Meet at 8 am...Breakfast at 8:30...and out of there by 10am. Express highway there and back from where ever...wear your sun screen. :o:) |
Larry. I like the Irving IHOP idea.

100 degrees and 120 miles round trip to Irving, I guess I'll see you next month.

Where is the middle? Who has time to ponder the middle? Would one who sets his mind to thinking about the middle, think about geometric center or barycenter? After consulting with some GIS specialists about some of these important questions, and consulting with NSA to get details about those of you less known to me, I have arrived at an accurate determination of our middle. More on the long awaited answer in a moment. When Richard posed the question, I was surprised that we only got three responses before forming a consensus, as were the NSA agents surprised. While NSA already had a file on us (something about "excessive fuel consumption" and "pry it from my cold, dead hands") they felt we would have discourse on a middle-location well past Saturday 8/4. After logging details of 49 owner and wanna-be DFW Monthly Meet past/present attendees and forum lurkers, you will be interested to know that the barycentric middle isn't 50 miles west of Sturgis, SD, nor is it in Mansfield. It isn't as far west as IHOP in Irving, but, as many of you will be pleased to know, it is west of Marsh Lane  It is exactly 82' east of the residence at 2711 Mark Twain Dr. in Farmers Branch. or 32.942661090185100,-96.884305970845500 While this non-descript, run of the mill house in just another metroplex neighborhood isn't the most important place, it is the barycenter of our group. If we were going to choose a more or most important location to meet, we might choose going to Joshua to honor James and his monthly trek, or to Keller, just to say we've been, or run by Jay's to see his latest addition... naaaww, lets just pick a place in Plano next month  Larry... put me down for one. |
John
you are giving me a headache. Stop it!!!!!

Alert! East Siders
"Traffic Hot Spots" from the Dallas Morning News states that I-635 three west bound lanes from I-35 to Luna Rd. will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, also various lanes westbound from Welch Rd. to Midway will present traffic issues.
So, the East Siders may wish to alter their routes to avoid these traffic Hot Spots. |
Joe, QT 7:45. See you Sat.
|
Based on John's analysis, appears that's why we seem to pick the Addison area so much! I probably will pass Saturday as looking for houses with my daughter.........might do a quick jaunt over to Cars & Coffee early since it's only a couple miles away to get my Cobra fix for the weekend.
