Trans Am Races
I can't wait. Saturday I'm heading over to the COTA track for the Trans Am races. It should be a great day.

We are in Austin tonight for COTA races this weekend. We are really looking forward to it. Had a great time at the F1 races last year.

Andy,
Call me when you get there. Maybe we can hook up. I will be going all around the track. I might even go up in the tower. I think it is $20 for 15 minutes, but what a view that would be.

Steve - I spent the afternoon there today. Not too busy but plenty going on and the cars were running hard.
I will give you a shout when I am there tomorrow. The weather looks great and the view from the obs tower will be awesome.

Andy, it was good to see you and Ang today. I was in turn 15 most of the day. It was too cold in the wind on the front stretch. Glenn was there too, but I didn't see him. I put the race on the DVR so i can see all of it tomorrow. It seemed like most of the action was elsewhere on the track. Did you see Tom's ost on the Yahoo Group?

I watched the Rolex series race yesterday evening. A lot of the guys were taking some unusual lines through the corners while in traffic. Scott Pruitts aerobatics were almost reminicent of an airborn car at Lemans several years ago. He definately got the front up in the air 2 feet off the ground.

Likewise Steve, I am glad we managed to catch up.
We only stayed in the main grandstand for the start and the first few laps as it was far too cold and we spent most of the race on the grassy bank by the big TV screen at turn 19 which was a good spot. It was a good race and another great day out at COTA.
I did see Tom's post but I will be in Port Aransas for spring break that weekend. I am going to send Tom a donation instead though as it looks like a great local cause.

COTA Grand Am
Sorry we missed getting with you guys this past weekend. We had a great time. The teams, drivers, crew were all very happy to talk with us and talk about the cars. We roamed all over the place, both the Rolex and Continental Challenge paddocks. Turn 1 was awesome for the start and re-starts. Turn 15 offered a view of the cars coming down the long back straight, into turn 12 all the way thru 15. Turn 19 gave us some relief from the wind and the action coming out of 18 into 19.
If any of you were over near the main grandstand you may have noticed a group of modern muscle cars. Mustangs, Camaros, Vipers etc. I found the COTA contact in charge of the "Car Corral". They invite car clubs to park inside there for events. The Texas Cobra Club is now on their list and they'll be contacting me for future events. I can run point to help organize. Next car event is the Australian V8 Supercars in May followed by the ALMS in Sept. I'll keep everyone posted.

The picture has a problem.
Bill,
Sorry I missed y'all. I walked all around the track. I looked for you at turn one, but I'm sure you had already left. I watched the last two races from the turn 15 grandstands. Lots of great place to watch from. We walked pit road for the Grand Am fan walk. That was really nice. I would love to give one of those cars a whirl around the track. I envy you your track time!
See you in April at the Meet.

We saw the muscle cars there. It would be great to be a part of that although it may be tough to get the Cobra down there from Dallas.
