Executive decisions...

Sat Nov 17th it is.
Wimberly it is.
Lunch at Wimberly it is.

Still waiting on responses for attendees. C'mon folks -- now's the time to get out with the Cobras before it gets real cold. (Which BTW, implies that December's event will be more local).

So can anyone tell me anything about Wimberly w.r.t. food?

Cheers,
-Neil.

Snakecharmer 11-09-2001 10:26 AM

I can't make it guys. I wish I could but I'll be out of town. Sounds like a great cruise :)

Cruise to Wimberly

We all can meet at hwy71 & 620 (Austin Java Co-The Back Yard) around 10:30am.

Begin the cruise to Wimberly (Lumber Yard) at 10:45am. We can take the old Poker Run, hwy71 to 3238 (Hamilton Pool Roard), then RR12 thru Dripping Springs to Wimberly. Park at the Lumber Yard (Hill Country Motor Sports parking lot) and start shopping and eating.:3DSMILE:

There is a restaurant right in the center of the shopping area, a block away from the Lumber Yard, don't know the name of it, sorry.

Plenty of shops for the wives to spend money. Wimberly is a nice place to hag out and see the holiday stuff. ;)

Return trip in reverse, when ever everyone gets tired of shopping.**)

Cammer, stop by my house and pick me up so we can convoy to the Austin Java Co. (Don't forget the Dremel Tool.)

ps; I notified Glenn Garrett of our pending arrival.

Snakecharmer 11-09-2001 11:30 AM

Cypress Creek Cafe is the name you are looking for. They have good food and good prices.

Say hello to Glenn for me :)

Ed Csoltko 11-09-2001 11:45 AM

Are you comming?

Barry, Richard, Scott, Joe, John, and Kyle (who else am I missing?) - are you in or out?

The wives who don't want to cruise in a Cobra can get together and take cars, this will open up some shotgun seats.

Last cruise before it snows!

anil 11-09-2001 02:49 PM

Wow, this is sweet -- the plans just kinda happen. :) (Thanks Ed).

So here's the list of attendees I have so far...
- Ed *
- Cammer *
- Scott *
- Joe? (I think) *
- Tony
- Gregg
- Ren Man *
- Gerhardt *
- Richard (if clutch fixed in time) *
- Me *

* = Cobra

Cheers,
-Neil.

Gerhardt Gast 11-09-2001 10:01 PM

Yeah, I should be there. Anil, it'll be good seeing your car. You were such a sport to come along last time in the Audi. Must have been killing you.

G.

Cypress Creek Cafe

Kathy and I drove the Devil's Backbone today and stopped in Wimberly. I hope next Saturday is like today. Cool, sunny, fall colors, and perfect temperature.

Neil; I talked to Nathan at the Cypress Creek Cafe. You need to call him Wednesday with a head count for lunch. Phone number is 847-2515. (He is going to set us up in the back Bar room with a plenty of tables.) I told Nathan we might have 20 in our group.

Glenn Garrett told me we all can park in front of the Lumber Yard. Glenn will also join us for lunch.

On the return trip we took RR12 to 150 to Driftwood, then to 1826 to Oakhill. We should consider this route for our return trip next Saturday. Great scenic route and fall colors to be had.

I think everything is set for next Saturday, lets hear from some of those unspoken members. Neil needs a head count.:3DSMILE:

Ray Russell 11-10-2001 08:37 PM

I'm so jealous.....I wanna go tooooo! I love driving those hill country roads. The last time I drove the Devil's Backbone was when I goy my car and it was pouring down rain. I'll be thinking about you guys...Ray:D

Joe Z 11-11-2001 06:00 PM

Hey Guys,

I'm planning to be there on the 17th.

Anil, How's the car coming along?

Greg, Don't let the "cobra snobs" get you down. We've all had the no-car blues before. Haven't we guys?

Anyway, hope to see the whole gang there.

Later,

Joe Z

Ed Csoltko 11-12-2001 06:27 PM

Head Count for Saturday

We need a head count to make reservations for lunch:

So here's the list of attendees I have so far...
- Ed & Kathy *
- Cammer & Jacque *
- Joe & Lena*
- Tony?
- Gregg
- Gerhardt *
- Richard (if clutch fixed in time)? *
- Neil*
- Kyle*?
- Barry?
- John?*

* = Cobra

Please advise ASAP!

In case it's raining, we can still meet at the Austin Java Co (The Back Yard ) without the Cobras for breakfast (10:30am). :3DSMILE:

anil 11-13-2001 11:42 PM

I'm baccccckkkk!

Back from my few-day stint in Houston. Don't know how those fellas drive Cobras in that fiasco of a city.

Few notes...

- Joe -- car has been running for a couple weeks, but some minor details are being tweaked. Also started chopping up the front suspension to weld in the tubular lower control arms, so hopefully I'll have that done by Saturday. BTW, remind me to tell you about my recent knock sensor investigation.

- Gerhardt -- I actually bought the Audi cause I loved the handling, so the last cruise was still fun for me. Only painful part was exercising self-control when we passed those orange cones. :3DSMILE:

- Last note from John indicated that he'll avoid the long drives for now due to his son, so I guess he's out this month. We'll keep December's meet a little more local (but I'll not confuse this discussion with that right now).

- Reservations were made already for 20 people. Here's the snag -- for this many people, there will be set menus -- chicken-fried steak, catfish, or a beef dish that I can't remember right now. Once I have a firmer count by say Thursday, I can call and adjust, and if less, we should be able to get full menu selection. I expect to do this cause the list is actually about 12 people (including Glenn) so far.

- So far weather forecast looks good. I've waited too long to get the Cobra out on a good cruise, so I don't think the powers above will be that cruel to me. :3DSMILE:

- Meeting spots -- Tony is meeting me at my place in the morning, so I suggest the following -- Northerners (and anyone else is welcome) can meet at my place in Steiner Ranch, and we'll drive from there and hook up with Ed's crew at the Austin Java Co (assuming the one on 71). Let me know if you intend to meet at my place and I'll send you my address in an email. Ed -- what time is good to hook up with you at Aus Java.

- Ed -- what's the good route for this? Not sure exactly where Devil's Backbone is, but from a map, it seems that one plan of action could be 71 W, 12 S, 150 E to the lumberyard, then 150 W, 2325 W to lunch. %/ ???

Cheers,
-Neil.

Ed Csoltko 11-14-2001 11:16 AM

We can talk about the cruise route Saturday morning at the Austin Java Co.

Cammer 11-14-2001 02:37 PM

Hi ya'll.....

It is not looking good for Jacque and I to go this weekend - I still have the distributor out of my car...... and haven't found a replacement gear that will arrrive before this weekend ...... BUMMER!!!!!

We will miss making this trip - maybe next time.......

Ed, I will bring your Dremel tool to Oak Hill Saturday night - sorry for the delay.........

Ed Csoltko 11-14-2001 04:29 PM

Cammer, Ren, and those whose Cobras are down, you can still come with the rest of us.:3DSMILE:

This meet is with or without Cobras, we may even have shotgun seats available. Kathy is going to a Master Gardner meeting but will drive to Wimberly to meet us for lunch. I have an open seat in my Cobra. If it rains, and it looks like it's going to, we can meet at the Austin Java Co for breakfast, or even take our non Cobra cars to Wimberly. What the heck, it beats sitting at home. We all can have lunch and shop at Wimberly.:3DSMILE:

anil 11-15-2001 03:21 PM
