TCC 2002 ANNIVERSARY EVENT, version 1
HEY TCC!
The below is a rough idea of the upcoming anniversary event. Date is locked so PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR!! A few things still need to be confirmed. BTW, this is MUCH simpler (and therefore more fun) than last years event. :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: TEXAS COBRA CLUB's 2002 ANNIVERSARY EVENT Friday February 22nd OUT-OF-TOWNER's WELCOME PARTY. Out-of-towners arrive. Hotel is the Bradford Suites. They'll reserve a big block of rooms and give us a discount. Enclosed Trailer Parking at Hotel. Open trailer and car parking also at the hotel or at Origin Systems' private garage with 24 hour security. Welcome Party near Hotel from 7pm until ?. Austin folks will meet you at the hotel, or a block from the hotel at Bahama Breeze, North by Northwest, or La Tratoria (Stoffer), for some social time! Self-pay. Once we confirm a place, we'll post. Saturday February 23rd MEET and GREET Cobras show up on top of Origin Garage and we get our famous picture with the Austin skyline in the background. I will confirm the garage. $20 per person for the day pays for awards, meals, and Saturday evening social. $10 non-member fee for the show and lunch. LUNCH FOOD Catered lunch. Sandwiches, chips, and drinks. DRIVE Poker run or cruise around Lake Travis. We'll take an alternate route through the beautiful Texas Hill country. The 60 mile maximum trip will take us through the scenic hills surrounding the Austin area. We'll stop near the lake for gas and a beer/coffee. Then we'll take the infamous winding Lime Creek Road back to the Social Event at JoeZ's ranch. This stretch of pavement is well known by sports car enthusiasts and sports bike riders. The snake-like road is fun to drive at any speed! Our club mechanic, Big Bill Andrews, will again be on hand to help with any mechanical needs and Charmer's trailer will be on standby for any emergencies. EVENT SOCIAL at the Ranch. BBQ, Beer, awards, live music, etc at JoeZ's ranch in Cedar Park, just one block from Hwy 183 in Cedar Park. Joe has a beautifully kept 3+ acre park-like property and house adjoining a horse farm. The cobras will enter a gate off of his paved road and park on the grass under huge, majestic oaks. The immaculate lawn will be lit up like a park all night. A big party tent with tables and chairs will be set up for dinner. Dinner will be the traditional Texas style BBQ with lots of side dishes, and hot dogs for the kids. Depending on the weather, we might need a few outdoor heaters. Ren Man will be donating kegs of his home brew. Standard refreshments will also be provided. Snakecharmer's band might play a set of Texas Blues. Horseback rides from the adjoining ranch might also be available. Tom Meadows will hand out awards, pick raffle winners, make some announcements, and tell a few jokes! We'll also take care of any club business and updates. We HOPE to have a special guest or two as well!! AFTER THE SOCIAL. We will have a volunteer shuttle leaving to take folks back to the Hotel or parking garage on the hour every hour beginning at 9 pm. For those that remain sober, the drive back to the hotel is an easy 15 minutes straight down Hwy 183. Sunday February 24th DEPARTURE. Maybe breakfast on the way out of town? SUMMARY One heck of a good time!! There will be plenty of Cobra seat-time, good food, good drink, and great people! Don't miss it! I'll post directions, contact info, and event confirmations when we get them. As usual, ALL cobra owners and enthusiasts from around the country are welcome! Yeeeeee Hawwwwww!!**) **) :3DSMILE: Charmer |
Charmer,
This sounds simple and enjoyable. Looking forward to it again. this will be a bit slower pace than last years, thank you. Just a thought, We should post this over on All Cobra Talk and invite the club as a whole. 4RE KLR Steve Parks |
Charmer; Are you leading the convoy around the lake? I hope there are no car washes and gravel pits on the route!
|
Very funny, Ed:LOL:
Good idea, Steve. Once I get a few more details ironed out with the troops here in Austin, and then get El Presidente's sign off, I'll post a big "Come one, come all" message on CC. Should probably post on some of the other sites as well. I'm glad your coming...can't wait to see that awesome paint job in person!! See you Saturday :) Charmer |
AS ALWAY"S,
CHARMER, YOU"VE OUT DONE YOURSELF!!!  I look forward to another great time in Austin, I'll have the BEAST this time!! :p |
We'll be there as well. Just got booted out of Tom's trailer so will have to figure out an alternate means of conveyance.
Jim:mad: |
Big thanks to the Austin crew!!!
I look forward to this event. You will see a larger Houston turn out this year for sure! |
Sounds Great!
Man,
This is going to be a great time. I just wish I could go this year! Sorry folks I'm at FT Leavenworth, KS for some army training. Gregg H P.S I will help out as much as I can. |
February
This trip does sound like a great time this year. I've been to Joe's house and it's an excellent place for an event like this. As far as Lime Creek Rd at any speed? Be careful, there are some nasty hair-pin turns you don't want to take too fast. But it's a great cruising spot. Whoever is leading, don't get behind any pickup trucks stradling wheels left lying in the road. Oops...

Pictures
Charmer,
Unless you already have someone lined up, I have a professional photographer who would like to attend this event and not only get some great pics, but be able to provide them to everyone during the event. I will see you tomorrow and provide more info. |
Hey do we have a number for the Suites yet so I can call and get my room Charmer?
Matt |
I think whether or not you are a member of the TCC the cost should be $20. Maybe the non-TCC members won't get a shirt or whatever but it's a way for us to raise a few more dollars and not just "break even". This will help future events become a bit more upscale if we like.
Just my $.02 |
Charmer - looks like great plan to me...every year it just gets better and better. I still have the name tag templates on my computer from last year. Do you want me to plan on updating and providing name tags again this year? I will be able to add SPF your tag and Unique to mine.:D :D :D
|
Great idea Dick,:3DSMILE:
As you can see from the plans for this year's event, we'll have plenty of fun time together at the Joe Z Ranch. With all the new members, name tags will come in very handy while we are getting to know everyone. I can't wait to see your ride Silver. I sure hope it's done and "debugged" by the end of Feb.!!:p Charmer |
Someone's working hard!
Sounds like a fun time! Count us in!! I can't wait to meet everyone and to see All the Cobra's in one spot. Must be an awesome sight!

Greg,
For the Texas crew our Austin gathering is the best. Everyone travels to beautiful Austin we park on the top floor of a parking garage ( sorry stretch don't remember building name) and we have the mountain and river back drop. It is breathtaking. If you go to the Texas Cobra Club web page you will see a pic from, I think two years ago. We still have the same place every year and the crew in Austin really take care of us weary travelers. This is endeed a trip you will not want to miss. But be carefull, be very carefull. Do not let anyone take your picture with Tom. For it will haunt you in your future. Just ask anyone. Ferrari Killer Steve Parks |
I'll be there!!
Stretch & all,
I WILL be there as usual! Who could miss this event that has a breath of "Cobra fever" in them. I think we should set the over/under number of cars at 50 this year, and I am betting the "over". Lots of fun to look forward to, as usual. See ya'll there. John Russell SPF#586**) **) **) **) **) |
Since picking up my Lone Star Cobra in july of this year it has been a continuous whirlwind of fun and fine friends with the TCC members here in Dallas. My wife and I are really looking forward to the much talked about TCC Austin trip in February, it sounds like a fun filled event. This Austin trip will be a great opportunity to road test the new top for the cobra since I've heard stories of previous rainy trips. When/ Where does the road trip begin from Dallas?????

do you have any numbers for hotel for feb. meeting....also registration instructions?
|
Charmer,
I am from Houston and have not purchased my kit yet. I would like to come to the event Saturday or Sunday for the "Show" part where I can look at the cars and hopefully learn a bit. What time will the group be arriving back at JoeZ's ranch? Would there be a long enough window there to get to see some Cobras? Is the main part of the event the drive as a group around Lake Travis or are there other events going on. Thanks, John jlthomas@ev1.net |
