An unfinished FF5 Mk4...

An unfinished FF5 Mk4 coming to me in the next two weeks, let's see what I can do with it:3DSMILE:

patrickt 07-14-2016 10:29 AM

How "unfinished" is it?

RodKnock 07-14-2016 10:36 AM

Why is it coming to you? Did you buy another Cobra?

If for some reason I had an unfinished FF kit, and I lived anywhere near Dallas, I would be doing the same thing. I would leave him the kit, a check, and a suggestion as to the paint color... and then I'd leave him the hell alone.;)

That's great advice and all but...have you learned your lesson with "beige"?
:p

If I were to keep the FF5 as my own, then beige would certainly be a possibility. But alas, an FF5 is not for me... so I would but tender a suggestion, and let G-Pete make the final call, as he is much more savvy than I on such things.

If Pete picks beige for his FFR's color, then no soup for him.

G-Pete,
My kit was at Lone Star when ownership changed; all contents of building were declared to be owned by the new owner. Oops-ie...wrong place-wrong time for me; my body (CSX4000) and Lone Star frame disappeared after 7 years...all legal and legit. I give up.

So I have LOTS of Cobra 427 parts that need to go away. I'm up the road in McKinney (Stonebridge Ranch, not far from John Ross). Goodyear Billboards, 8-stack EFI, electrical, F5 roll bar surrounds, wind wings and visors, several new Lemans fuel caps, 8.8 with new 31 spline posi, a/c, LeMans hardtop w hinged back window, etc.--so much stuff. I would welcome you to come look through it if you think it could help your build. You're local and I'm never shipping parts again. BTW--I followed your communication with the PO of the kit you're getting. Kit is very complete/unfinished and my things may not be needed (Kirkey seats, Lexan windshield in frame). Very nice buy. Enjoy it.

Well, my definition of unfinished is, if I have not checked every single bolt and find it Ok - the car is not finished. Yes, I bought that car.

The cars comes "road-ready", no paint nor body work done.

The GT40 last year came "road ready" too, just some parts missing (carpet ect:LOL:).
It took 6 month to make the car really road ready.;)

I never had the pleasure to work on a FF5, I took the opportunity to get one, work and learn about the Mk4 - before I order a kit for my 460/501 power plant to do a 'Ollie the Dragon'.

And no, this one will be not beige - maybe beige or so...haha, no idea yet.

Great Paul, I give a shout this evening.

The car is far from done...pretty soon there will be a lot of parts for sale hehe

Sweet, awaiting that thread!

Awesome and Congrats.

Since you mentioned the colour beige, can I suggest bmw's Mini Cooper pepper white.
It's kind of like a light beige, but I reckon it would look good on a cobra, particularly so without stripes.

Either way enjoy.

Ahhh, the color beige. Like the spectrum of "normalcy," it is deep and far in breadth.;) So, unlike the primary colors, or colours as they say in the penal colony, there is a shade that will please most everyone.

Wait, wait, wait, wait.

Calling Pepper White, beige, is insulting to every Pepper White Mini out there. Pepper White is more like Wimbledon White.

Beige is more Lexus/Toyota family sedan or Hummer Desert Storm Brown.

Wimbledon White, I think. You can never really say for sure.

Bernica will tell you that "Pepper White" is just another name for "contractor's grade white," which is just another name for all the left over white paint that you have, all mixed up together, and it is what it is. And it's kinda white, but not really.

G-Pete 07-15-2016 05:19 PM

...I guess that will be an interesting build thread hehe.

G-Pete 07-18-2016 06:31 PM

As of 6:30 pm local time the car was delivered.

A colour to consider is Infiniti Serengeti Sand Metallic. My wife's G35x is painted this colour and it can look light gold or silver, depending upon the light. And no, it's not beige...

This photo doesn't do it justice, but here's a G35 coupe the same colour:
