Registration Renewal Issues Collin County
Has anyone had any recent issues with registration renewal in Collin County? I titled and registered last year, so this is my first renewal. My FFR MK4 is registered as an ASVE 2020, replica 1965 Shelby. I have the custom vehicle plates.
The issue I am having is that they are stating that the yearly inspection is required. They are getting hung up on the 2020 completion date. I have a feeling it is both a lack of familiarity and possibly something wrong in their system in regards to correct initial registration. They mentioned in passing that the rules changed last June, but haven't found any reference to what that rule change is. Also, does anyone have a direct reference to where it states that cars titled as 1965 replica is exempt. I can only find reference to "antique" plated cars being exempt. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you Jason |
Jason,
If it was already titled and the license is running out, in Texas you just get an inspection (show them insurance). Then go online and renew with a credit card. Mine runs out this month so going this evening to get the inspection. Good luck, Richard |

Thank you Bob, that was exactly what I was looking for.
