Default TCC March 2002 meeting recap and pictures

OK, I have received enough emails over the past few days to prompt me to post the pictures and a few highlights of last weekend's Texas club event (sorry for the delay everyone).

First, we arrived to 45-degree weather with threatening clouds so there were only a few cars present. And the star of the show was not even a Cobra.... It was Keith's 2 days old BMW Z8 !!

Wow!! What an incredible car!!!

Once everyone arrived, Thomas and Ute began handing out many pages of information that looked like a test. Turns out, it was a type of scavenger hunt that included detailed directions to drive about 10-15 miles through McKinney and gather information like "Where and when was the Juke box in the local Soda Fountain built?", "Who was buried in the cemetery", etc..

There were also other general knowledge questions that we had to answer, like, "Name 5 German food dishes", What is the origin of the word "Texas", "What is Stuttgart Germany known for", etc.. (And many more).

The idea was to answer as many questions and find as many facts out about McKinney on our way to the park BBQ.

So we all took off and about 1 -1/2 later showed up at the park for the BBQ. Chef Thomas grilled Chicken and Steak with al the fixins'.

After lunch, Ute had tallied the final scores and surprised us with prizes for the event. Check this out! They MADE the trophies!! What a great effort!! Thomas apologized for using "Chevy" sparkplugs in the trophies

I think that Jeannie slipped Ute $20 (I know it was not due to our astounding Tom Meadows-like intellect) because we actually won a trophy and a bottle of bubbly. If I remember correctly, Alan and Donna Drewry also won a trophy and huge bottle of wine and Ray Russell and his buddy took home a trophy! (Correct me where I am wrong guys)

Though it was a less than gorgeous day outside, about 20 of us had a great time! It would certainly be fun to do again in another small town in the fall!

I hope the rest of the attendees can post some of the other highlights.

Thank you again Thomas and Ute for putting on a great event and bringing in support all the way from Germany to help out!!! Great job!
