Unhappy Gak! Insurance just nearly doubled.

Anyone playing less than $750 a year now? If so, with whom?

Please provide contact info.

Thanks

Default Hill, give Dan Hardiman a call.

Hill,
You can always call Dan Hardiman a call @ 903-597-5700. Dan is a TCC member with a Superformance Cobra and is in Tyler. He carries the insurance on quite a few TCC members and I think he might be able to help you. He's a good guy, I am WELL covered, and my premium is about $390 .
John Russell
Good luck, & let us know what you come up with.

Are any of the rates posted here with an agreed upon value? If so what range? My rates are triple what was posted here!

Grundy=$45,000 agreed upon value, $200-$500 liability $365 p.a. $5oo deductable.
loss record= no claims or citations for household in 6 years plus
============

There have been several threads on insurance. Suggest you research them.

I am not surprised at the rate increases.
Just based on the claims I am aware of, and the remarks about letting friends, relatives drive
over powered cars lead me to believe that the insurance industry will be moving to black out Cobra replicas and put the high performance industry out of business, just like they did in the
early '70's. I was there, I watched Detroit go out of the muscle car biz and it will happen again.
To many jack ass drivers out there with overpowered machinery.

Default Something is up

Large claims must be way up for cobras, because Hagerty's explanation letter for jacking my rate said the incidence of substantial claims on cobra kit cars had skyrocketed.

Who is wrecking all these cobras?

Thumbs up

Hill - I second what John Russell said about calling Dan Hardeman - good guy to work with and I moved all my family vehicles when my insurance renewed in April.

I too would like to know if anyone has filed a claim on a Cobra. I only know of one Cobra claim for a car that burned up in a garage fire and that ended up as a homeowners claim...not an auto claim. So who is wrecking all these Cobras??

I tryed 4 different co. recently and they all said that the car had to be factory built. A couple are insuring Cobras but not adding any new customer base. One even wanted a 2 year driving history. Price was not the object. Apparently a few are spoiling it for us all. I'd like to encourage the insurance industry to better profile their customers and in effect weed out the culprits. I'm 58, conservative, with a good driving record and after all the effort, do not want to see anything happen to my pride and joy.

From CC alone we know of two occupants killed in Oregon, a near fatal in Sactramento, the ERA that took out hundreds of feet of fence....

The insurance industry will be surcharging all muscle cars just like in the early '70's.

Have one claim, a couple of tickets and expect to loose your Cobra coverage.

Make sure any coverage is agreed upon value, or expect to have the car depreciated down
to junkyard level.

Don't let anyone drive it, reread this sentence.

In Switzerland I have to pay a yearly net premium of about US$ 1'100. The gross premium would be US$ 2'500 - one reason more to drive carefully ! The premium is based on an agreed value of US$ 55'000.

A letter from Parish Heacock about my insurance.

We appreciate the opportunity to provide insurance for your Reproduction Cobra. We are currently in the process of reviewing our reproduction automobiles to make certain they are properly calssified. As a result of this review, your collector car insurance policy, which renews shortly will be issued in our "Exotic Car" program. Your renewal policy will contain the following changes:
Higher Comprehensive & Collision rates- a preminum increase of approximately 80%
Comprehensive & Collision Deductible- increased to $500

The reason I didn't go with Pariish - My wife isn't old enough to drive under thier policy. I'll have to wait FOUR more years.
