Default Quiet Houstonites Again?

Sure not hearing much out of Houston bunch these days! Found another Beaumont area Cobra owner. (Up to 4) Now if I can get them to Houston meetings. Beaumont is having "Hot August Nights" car show and cruise Aug. 9-10-11 should be hundreds of cars there, but too hot to stand around a car all day at car show. Nightly cruises should be OK. I prefer to drive, as I am not much as a "Waxer". Later, David Shelton.

David - nice work on finding 4 Cobras in Beaumont. Always nice to add to the bunch.
How's the car running? You get that custom intake finished? Should be nice.

I need to do some tweaking on my carb this weekend. My car has been running rich, so I need to get out the vacuum gauge and get to work on the 4 corner idle mixture screws. I read somewhere I need to take the Holley off the intake and set the secondary throttle blades correctly as Holley doesn't do this at the factory. Anyway, my carb has just a wee bit of stumble right after you hit the gas pedal and my plugs are turning black. It's not excessivley black, but I can tell it's rich.

See you in a few weeks.

Scott I hope you and Brandy are doing OK. Funny you should ask about 2-4bbl intake. Machine shop called sbout 6:00 this evening and said manifold has been faced-off and I can pick up Friday AM. I believe I will go ahead and install intake and carbs this weekend. That will give me all next week to sort-out carbs before club meet. But, if I run into too much problem, I will re-install Torker and single Holley. Cobra now has 986 miles on it, and 351 Cleveland seems to run better each drive. Mileage: up to 10.033 mpg (Who cares about mileage?) Temporary side pipes with baffles I can live with. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend. Later, David.

David - 10.033 is not good enough. Maybe with some small adjustments you can get it up to 10.25!
Tell me about your temporary sidepipes with baffles. Are you going to have different pipes made later? How loud are they?
My sidepipes are very restrictive and I've been considering changing my mufflers if it wouldn't be too loud.

Scott, honestly a right foot adjustment should help my fuel mileage. Do search for thread I started titled "Sidepipes" in "All Cobra Talk" forum. It has a little info on what I tried and other's input also. Of 2 baffles in each side, 1 set is removable at this time. I am going to do a test on a chassis dyno in the near future. (Local shop just installed a dyno, but I am going to give them a while to practice). Well, I better go pickup my intake manifold at machine shop. Later, David

David,
I look forward to seeing that intake! Do the other Cobra guys in Beaumont have email addresses? If so forward them to me.

Morgan,

I like the night cruise idea but I have never had any sucess in getting anyone to turn out for one. Last time I tried it, it was just me at the meeting place. If there is an interest and someone wants to plan one I'm all over it! Have headlights will travel!

Scott,
I too will be trying to lean out my carbs. I almost have them where I want them but they still run a little rich. I went by and saw Duane's and Damian's(sp) cars today over at the paint shop. The shop looks like it's doing a very good job. A friend of mine told me that there were some cobras over by where he worked and when I went over there it turned out to be their cars.

Talk to you guys soon!
