Dennis Mosley 10-14-2002 01:34 PM

The King beat me to the punch!

I had planned to send out a similar email tonight. I want to get things kicked off and cruise over to Austin a few weekends between now and the event to help out any way I can.

Who wants to take the lead in Austin?

It's never too early!!

Well,
It appears that it's "planning time" again for the Austin crowd, and I do think that a central meeting hotel- with ample parking for at least 25 trailers should be the primary focus. Once that is settled upon, the remainder will fall into place,
I do think we need to plan for the 80-100 car range.......... so call me an optimist!!

Cruise from there to OUR parking garage, for pictures. :D

Cruise from there to wherever, and end up back at the Hotel!!

Hotel as HQ is an excellent idea! Guess it is time to buy a trailer.

Dennis Mosley 10-14-2002 03:23 PM

David...you don't need a trailer....Drive that beast!!!!

Any one know of a Hotel with parking for that many trailers? That's a lot of Real Estate.

Dennis, I haven't figured out how to get a wife and two kids in the Cobra yet! Maybe I'll leave them all in Kountze! (Yeah, Right)

Ed Csoltko 10-15-2002 08:03 AM

Good Luck!

This will be interesting! I can't even get these guys to show for a monthly meet, and you want to talk about details four months from now. Sorry I couldn't resist. May be the thoughts of the big 2003 Spring Meet will stir up this bunch in Austin and get the juices flowing again.

Food for thought: We been lucky the past several years on the weather in February. Any thoughts about pushing the meet out one month (March)?

ERA600hp 10-15-2002 08:19 AM

No Worries

I don't worry about #'s :o

I know that I'll have fun no matter how many people show up!! :p :p

It's Never to early to Plan!

Glad to see a few people thinking towards the big meet in February. I know Stretch had a good idea about using a Park n Ride lot that its next to a hotel. I don't know the location, but it sounded good when I heard it.

Now is a good time to brain storm.

How about getting out of Austin proper to a Hotel that has some room with a much bigger parking lot. Then we could cruise to the parking deck and other areas and end up back at the hotel for the party!

If the group is falling apart in Austin or tied up with other priorities this year, maybe we should not burden them and consider moving 2003 to another Texas location?????????

Austin Will be ready!

To All TCC Members,

We may be down a little bit, but come February we WILL BE READY TO HOST the annual Bash.

I promise you that.

Dennis Mosley 10-18-2002 09:04 AM

Glad to hear it Greg!

Just tell me what help you need and I'll do what I can. I have no problem driving over from Houston to help with the planning.

Gary Morris 10-18-2002 09:07 AM

I think Gary & Tom hit the nail on the head. Make the HOST hotel the final destination on Saturday for the PARTY. Then we have a Party on Friday night AND Saturdau night:D :3DSMILE:

Gary:D

Snakecharmer 10-18-2002 12:10 PM

Hey guys :o ,

I meant to check in with El Presidente Mosley about this. :D I'll get with him and figure out the details but here are my thoughts. We CAN get "our" garage again. :) AND I really like Rube's idea of making the Hotel HQ. I've got a couple of location ideas that should accomadate 25 trailers and 100 cars. I'll check them out and get back to you.

The date sounds good - February 21st and 22nd.

The goal - Easy and FUN! **) **)

How does this sound as a basic agenda?

Hotel registration and party Friday night
Cruise from Hotel to Garage after breakfast
Garage for pictures and drive-up registration
Cruise to lunch location - buy your own lunch
From lunch - Hill Country Poker Run ending back up at Hotel
BBQ tailgate party at hotel

I think this will result in a LOT of fun and very few complications. We'll make sure that both the HOTEL and the LUNCH location can accomodate 200 people and 100 cars.

In fact for lunch, I'm going to talk to the city and see if we can rope off a huge section of the downtown Auditorium or Coliseum parking lot. We'll have our choice of a half a dozen restaurants right across the street. Simple, fun, and no deposit required!

Besides the Parking garage, we'll have our security guard again as well. He'll need some help this year with all the cars but that won't be a problem.

It would be great to have help with the publicity again. Last year, Jeff, Ren, Rich, and Ed all contributed to creating an impressive publicity package. We Austin folks need to get together and make that happen again. Heck, maybe this time we can get live event coverage to tag along with us!

Other ideas - shirts, special guests, prize donations, awards, recognitions, etc.

Everybody give some input and I'll get with President Mosley to confirm what he wants to do.

Think BIG. Think FUN. Think SIMPLE !! :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

I like that idea! If my wife or kids get bored, they can go back to the room.

Gregg(What's his name)? 10-18-2002 04:03 PM

LET"S ROLL!

Stretch,

I was think about having the November meeting at my house for a little brain storming and event planning. Like we have done in the past. I'll get the beer and food and we can sit around and plan the event and start working the details out.

The dates would be Friday 21 Feb 2003 - Check in 12:00 pm - ?

Friday 21 Feb 2003 - Welcome party

Saturday 22 Feb 2003 - Usually stuff

Sunday 23 Feb 2003 - Go home

I'm getting pumped already.

Gregg H.

Like I said we in Austin will make this better than last year. We maybe done but not OUT!

Snakecharmer 10-18-2002 04:12 PM

Sounds great Gregg,

I could use some more of your wife's awesome guacamole and queso:3DSMILE:

Let's wait until after the Big Corpus event on the 9th. Maybe one of the next two Saturdays - 16th or 23rd?

How about it gang? Can we pick Gregg's house as the November location? No offense to who ever was supposed to pick November's location ;)

Charmer
