Default First drive tonight @ 8:40pm

Well, i picked up my drive shaft today @ 5:30, and rushed straight home(one stop @ Craig Bachmeyers to pick up a pump for transmission fluid). Kissed my wife, ate a bite really fast, changed clothes and headed out to the shop. Cranked up the radio, and crawled under.

The drive shaft fit like a glove, and I got it bolted in. I then needed my wife to come out and pump the transmission fluid in, as I lay under the car and held the tube. After 2.8 quarts, it was ready. She went inside and I stayed out there cleaning up fluid off the ground ( I hate transmission fluid).

About 20 minutes later, I cranked 'er up, put it in 1st gear, let out of the clutch, and WOW, it's actually rolling!

I pulled up in front of the house and honked...Angie came running out and jumped in...I backed up and took off down our driveway(about 1/8 of a mile), and onto the street....and off we went...

What a feeling. After 4 months of waiting and about 6 weeks of work on the turnkey minus, I finally set out on the maiden voyage. I was grinning ear to ear, and came back and called everyone I knew that had helped my over the past 6 weeks.

thanks to Craig Bachmeyer(currently in build stage of his B&B), Dave Osmar(Ren Man), Bill Kyler, Ryan Logan, Frank Hinnant, Mr. Fixit, and everyone else who has answered my questions or been over here at the house until midnight helping.

Now it's time to title and register so I can drive legally this weekend.

rain rain go away...

See everyone in Corpus in two weeks @ Paul's event.

Congrats! Now the real fun begins! Just remember, sometimes little shakedown runs can last for hours. A gas run can last 2 hours (And you return with less gas than you left home with.) Enjoy. See you at Corpus.

Talking What a great day-any day in a Cobra!!

Blake,
It is always wonderful to remember the first drive in a new Cobra, and it sounds like you and your wife has a day/evening to remember.
All the other days will be just as much fun, they just won't be the first.
Congratulations on getting it on the road !!

I even woke up before the alarm went off. Noticed that finally, after a week of rain, it was sunny and clear and nice and cool. I got ready for work, opened the garage, and went for an early morning cruise around the neighborhood. an "alarm clock" if you will for the neighbors!

Think i'll go for another cruise during lunch.

Thumbs up

Congratulations Blake - I still remember the first night my son and I fired the engine and went out to terroize the neighborhood...set off about 3 alarms...although I tried to find more!!

Any pictures for us? What silver did you go with? Must have details. I will change your profile on the web site and delete that word "building".

I look forward to checking out your new ride in Corpus.
