All us TX guys should go checkout this post on the FFR forum...
Build help in Dallas after death in family...
Something to keep tabs on, especially for the guys in Dallas. |
Ed, Thanks, for the info, I read your link and have left my contact info for the Jack Tunnell who has volunteered to take the lead on this project. Will post info for the Dallas guys as soon as I hear something. Thanks, db

Ed - that really is a sad deal. From what I can gather on FFR Forum, Gary Martin lived in Desoto and was carefully building his FFR Cobra. I read his last post on Nov 26 and looks like he died about a week later. Probably like a lot of us guys - most likely mid 50's with a grown family and finally get a chance to own the car of our dreams. From reading Gary's posts on FFR Forum - he sounded like a really nice guy - sorry I never met him - sorry he never got to turn the key and take his son for a ride. :(

Ed
I also left a contact # with Jack.
I also agree with Jack that we shouldn't storm over there with 15 bodies and complete the car in a weekend. I think that we should help the Son finish the car. Also we need to access the sons mechanical ability. I going to offer to help Jack and we'll see what we can do from here. Tom Meadows |
I'm In
Tom......If you can set something up I'm in. As soon as the word gets out and contact is made I think you will find the entire Dallas group will be there with bells on.
My prayers are with the family but WE WILL complete the dream! Gary ERA #291 |

I have also left a message for Jack Tunnell
Gary Morris told me about this thread this morning, I followed the link to the FFR thread, and I have just left a message for Jack Tunnell offering my help when he gets things sorted out.
I think this is something the TCC can make a difference in, and I think we will when the time comes. We all can benefit. John Russell |
Me too.........

I live five miles from Desoto, in Cedar Hill. My dad lives in Desoto. We'll do whatever we can to help. Just let me know when and where.

Thanks everyone for your help. I haven't heard from the son yet. I'm guessing he's very busy. Dave Smith from Factory Five called me yesterday and offered to send $2,000 to the cause. I was thinking we could get hotel rooms, food, parts, etc to help the cause.
Please keep an eye on the FFCobra post so we can all keep in touch. Thanks again every, the Cobra community is the best! - Bill Peirce |
Count me in
I will be available from end of December on. Just let me know, when and where.

I will MAKE the time if needed. :)
Our thoughts go out to the family |
Tom, Jack,
Keep me posted, I can probably be free to help most any weekend thru spring. I am just a little over an hour drive. John. |
Please keep us updated, as I too would be glad to turn a wrench -for the cause

Wow, TCC is out in force on this thread, very nice to see everyone so willing to help! Lets all keep our eye on this...

Hey guys I'm in. Have a lot of time off starting mid next week and through the holidays. Monica and Sheena going to Florida for Soccer Tourn.
I'm sure I can get some dealers to sell any parts needed at cost, including Mike over at the Racing Zone for a cause like this! I checked out the post over at FFR site and it appears he has a 306 engine. If not I'm sure AER would particpate with some assistance! Let me know? |
I'm in!
If I can swing the time from the family I'll come up and help. Let me know where and when. Perhaps an Austin Caravan.

From the FFCOBRA board "I've just been pointed to this thread. Thank you for your kind words. You'all really are a family the way you pull together. I am really moved. To the people that have emailed me, I'll answer your emails when I get home tonight.
I am at work now, but I can bring every one up to speed. The car is in De Soto, Texas just 10 miles south of Dallas on I-35. What is finished: frame painted, rear axel installed, gas tank installed, front suspension with flaming river rack installed, foot boxes installed, petal boxes installed, some aluminum panels installed, battery installed, master cylinder with power brake booster installed. There should be nothing left to take off the donor. Thats about it. We were just about to send the wiring off to get rid of the stuff we didn't need. While that was being done we were going to run the brake lines(didn't get started on that). I need to get the drive shaft shortened, and a cam shaft and underdrive pulley set intalled on the engine, and a new clutch. As far as I know we have everything to finish the car save for a few things that may be broken or worn out on the engine(sensors and motor mounts and such). He made a list of things he probably needed to replace on the donor but I have not found that list yet. He has detailed notes I just haven't been able to read them just yet. I really want to thank every one who has shown sympathy to our family. I have to get back to work now but I'll keep checking this thread and my email. I'll also try to answer any other questions that I haven't gotten to yet. Thank You, Joel Patrick Martin gulogulo1970@yahoo.com " Just an update to all those who have been keeping an eye on this. |
