Cammer was speciality engine Ford used in Drag and Boat Racing. But like all engines was originally developed for those high banks of Daytona.............Some of the first funny cars and may of the top fuelers had cammers.

Todays top fuelers run the old 426 Hemi, bored/stroked to the legal 500 inch limit of course. Not the same engine of yester year you say? Consider this, the iron heads from an old 426 Hemi WILL bolt on to the latest fueler engine. They are now making in the range of 8,000 h.p. There is also about 8 g's of force on the driver at launch time.
It is commonly understood there is no other engine that can be built to compete at the highest level of drag racing (AA Fuel). Question: Could the "cammer" do it if they had been given the time in developement that the Hemi has had over the years? The cammer is after all a "Hemi" head design, which is THE key to massive horse power. Ernie |

Jeannie says it should be the other way around... :) Ernie, I have wondered the same thing, but it always comes back to that 6 foot long timing chain... I wonder how it would take the instant rpms??? |
Cammer in a Kirkham?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Has it been done already
I know there are a few ERAs out there with this engine but would the kirkham have the available space. I would have this engine in a kirkham just to be different, alloy heads? fitted with throttle body injection or even webers if manifold was available. Perhaps David K could feed some info here? Anyone with details on the Dove range of Cammer heads and parts please let me know. Adrian |

I have been working on a design for two piece billet aluminum heads that can be created on CNC machine. Just got the call from the engineer and I should have the CAD drawings in the next threee weeks. I will keep you posted..:3DSMILE:

If they do work, I will need a car to test the engine in.. I was hoping I could "borrow" someone's Ferrari to plop this thing in for a few months.... Know anyone with a garage full of cars that might have a Ferrari laying around?? ;) |

They probably are. They are building me some little ricer motors for my next Cobra. Entdoc, Yup, Earl is selling the Cammer motor. They just got too rich for my pocket book. The Shelby Cammer on Ebay is the same motor that I was going to buy. His reserve is approx. $37,000 with the Hillborn setup. |
