An IDEA for February, 2004!!

O.K. fellow TCC members,
This coming annual event in February, 2004 will be a milestone event for our club. This will be the 5 year anniversary for the founding of our little band of Cobra extroverts, and I think we need to aim for something special for this coming event.
Here comes my proposal ( with the input from a few members of the Dallas chapter).
I/we feel it would be prudent to once again invite Brent and Sherrie as our guests, which would include round trip airfare for two and a hotel room! We did this for our second event, and it had a dramatic effect on our membership in a very positive manner, and we feel it is time to do it again. If any of you have airline miles laying around unused, please feel free to pitch them into the pot, and if any of you folks out there are still gainfully employed by an airline   and can help out, please do.
We can certainly work out a way to get this accomplished with a start this early, and I believe we can easily get this done without it being a burden to any individual.
I know it would mean a lot to both of them, and it certainly can be of benefit to us.
Please, share your thoughts on this, and lets get it done 'cause it's just the Texas thing to do!
Respectfully,
John Russell ;)

I'll help! I think this is a good idea. I had the pleasure of meeting Brent at DVSFIII this year, and although he declined to snort tecquila up his nose, he still parties pretty well! ( Who knows, maybe Sherrie will try snorting a little tecquila! :3DSMILE: )

Definitely a good idea...

I'm all for it, let's get the ball rolling!!
I'll check airline rates, then we can go for the miles.

Ronnie Reed Dedication?

I also agree that inviting Brent and Sherrie would be a great idea.

Would also like to suggest that we dedicate the 5th Annual Texas Cobra Club Event to our great friend, Ronnie Reed who was a great part of the past few and will be greatly missed................

kingair 08-28-2003 08:08 PM

Great idea on both counts!!! Let me know how we can help!

ERA600hp 08-28-2003 09:13 PM

Sharp

I agree !!

4RE KLR 08-29-2003 06:21 AM

From what I hear Jay will be in charge of the cooking this year. I'll let him tell the story.

Ronnie will surely be missed, That is for sure!

Gary Morris 08-29-2003 11:03 AM

I agree 100%

I have yet to get over the death of Ronnie. I still have his picture on my computer up under the awning in Tulsa. He was letting me help stir the pot of his secret receipe. I always stood by him while he was cooking just to get some insight. Wish he had taught me the receipe as it won't be the same without it. Ronnie brought a presence to the gathering that could not be equalled. I still miss him and think of him often. Hope he is keeping up with us AUSTIN 2004......TOAST TO RONNIE REED!!!

Gary:( :( :(

jrussell 08-29-2003 01:17 PM

I'll toast with you on that, Gary!!

Gary,
Great idea on both counts! I will certainly drink a toast or two with you in memory of our friend, Ronnie Reed, and I think I can arrange just the thing to do it with!!!

THE REST OF THE STORY

AS STEVE SAID, I DO HAVE THE STORY FOR THE JUMBALYA. I WAS HONORED BY RONNIE REED BY BEING GIVEN HIS ORIGNAL JUMBALYA RECIPE AND AM PLANNING ON COOKING IT IN AUSTIN IN HIS MEMORY.

GARY, YOU CAN HELP ME STIR IT IN MEMORY OF OUR GOOD FRIEND WHO LEFT US ALL TOO SOON:CRY:

JAY

Airfair

Ok, guy's, airfair round trip is about $383.00 per person, or air miles is 25,000 per person.
Which ever way you guys want to go. We need to book pretty quick to keep the price low.
Let me know what you want to do.

Well anyone have tons of miles they want to donate or free passes?

Other wise if 50 us want to contribute it's $ 15.32

jrussell 09-03-2003 02:29 AM

I don't have miles, but cash will work!

Tom,
I say book it! I don't have any miles(air that is) but I can sure be counted on for AT LEAST $15.32......geez, that's cheap! I would most likely round it up to at least $20.00!
Lets get this plan in action!!

What is the departure city?

I might be able to come up with one ticket using airmiles depending upon the departure city and destination (assuming it'll be Austin). If someone will let me know I will check it out.

On another note.... The bad news.... Car was totalled.... The good news.... Received half of settlement from insurance yesterday, with the other half waiting on transfer of title.

Now, I just have to figure out what to do next ....... Hmmmm.....

There are way too many options these days.....

Best to all.... See you soon....

jwoodard 09-03-2003 08:40 AM

I'm OK........

with contributing $15.32. That's two out of the needed fifty responses.
