Austin Status
Austin is going through some hard times. Many Cobras sold or for sale, and good friends have lost contact with us.
Blake O (Sold B&B) David O (Sold SMC) Greg H (Sold B&B) Jeff B (Legend For Sale) Neil A (CMC For Sale) Rich L (Sold Cobra) Ryan L (FFR For Sale) Stretch W (Sold SPF) Terry T (Sold both FFRs) Joe Z (Vanished) Kyle R (Vanished) Richard O (Vanished) Looks like DFW and Houston memberships are stable and growing. The rest of us in Austin are still hanging in there. |

That's really is bad news
On the positive side, what Cobras do we still have in the Austin area? |
Me! The Red FFR that made it to the last meeting in Bastrop.
I live on Lake Travis, just outside of town in Spicewood. Randy |
Active Austin Attendees with Cobras
Dee W (ERA)
Ed C (FFR) James W (FFR) Joe G (Unique) Randy (New FFR) Bob S (FFR build) Ed H (New FFR) Tony M (CMC build) |
and David Keirns ( guessing on spelling ) build FFR, he is almost done with his new ride.
|
A new FFR!
Randy, Has David Keirns attended any of our monthly meets? If so, I appologize for not meeting or remembering him.
|
Not sure, but I have seen him on the forum. He knows my brother thats why I know him at all.
I just thought he was getting close to finishing he would want to make the annual for sure. Thanks Randy Farnsworth |
Hey now...I'm not getting out of the Cobra for good...it's only to make room for a new one! Same with Blake, I am pretty sure there is a Backdraft in his future!:D
If it weren't for this 7 month old running around my house...I would make it to all sorts of things...then the one time I do get to go, the car acts up!:D I'm still here...just taking a breather. |
Actually, I think if anything, San Antonio is improving..other than Blake selling hs car(he'll get another, it's a matter of time:D). I get calls a couple of times a month from people starting cars here in town. And before our friday night car show got cancelled..we were meeting quite often with as many as half dozen cars. I do need to get things organized around here again...but I don't think that's too big of an issue.

Ryan,
We do need to have another outing soon, The only time I drive my car is to go to some kind of meeting or cruise. I need some seat time. Plan something please! |
Ed, thought of another. Mike Shaw FFR 3340, almost done.
Randy |
I'm still here!
I may be with out right now but I have my eye on a few cobras right now. May surprise you all before the February meet.

I have a Cobra that is new to Austin, I will try to get it out more. I hope members won't get upset if I say that I am very involved with old Corvettes and have within the past few years acquired a Shelby Mustang and now a Cobra replica. I think that I have the best of both worlds. The Shelby cars and Corvettes are two of the best cars made and I have a strong love for both.
I learned to love the Shelby's after years of going to the vintage races and watching those little '65 and '66 Shelby Mustangs run like crazy. I need to visit with someone on how to post pictures of the Cobra. If my computer was a car, I would not be able to drive it around the block. |
Got two posted, the others are to big.

Tim:
I saw your car being built at Hi Tech by Mike Kenney & Company some years back... an exquisite car. You must be very proud of it. I am looking forward to seeing it again in February at the Austin meet. Bud:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |
That's neat. They really did a great job on the car. Thank you.

This is an interesting conversation... My name is David Dunlap, I live in Austin, and I was the first non-shelby owner of the original CSX3002 and several other 289's over the years. I raced SCCA and was in the old Austin Spokes & Lone Star Region SCCA in the late 60's & early 70's. I didn't realize that there was any Austin-based organization for Cobras. One of these days, I'll have to drop into one of your get-togethers...

David, Great. I would love to have you see my replica and let me know what you think. It seems like you like the replica cars even though you have a background of owning original cars.
I met the owner of CSX3007 at a recent show. Full comp car that he ordered for drag racing. |
