Default cobras by the bay update !

hey guys and gals
i would like to change the date for my event to a week earlier, october 29, 30, 31st, so that i can offer more activities. originally i picked the first weekend in november because we had a road race event here that weekend. well, the event was canceled after 9-11. i stayed with the date thinking that the event might resume. it hasn't. i realized here last week that on the last weekend of october that there will be two old car events that would add to my schedule of activities. on friday they have old car night at one of the local hamburger stands with live music. last event had over 70 cars and over 2000 people! on saturday they have a smaller event at another hamburger stand. if its ok with all of those that were planning to attend then this would add to the things i had planned for the weekend. sorry i'm a little slow in posting this message, but even though i'm supposed to be retired, i have more to do now than when i was working for the school district. anyway, let me know if its ok with ya'll to move the event up one week and then i can give more details.
thanks,
paul

hey mark and everyone else

two weeks and counting. below is the schedule. ed, you can move this to the top if you like.

friday: everyone will check in at snapkas, located on leopard st, starting at 4pm until 10 or so. live music and plenty of food and cars.

saturday: check in at crosstown ford from 9am to 1pm for a show and shine. the cobras will be the feature attraction.
at 1pm i will lead a cruise around the bay with a stop in rockport for seafood at charlote plummers. after we eat we will complete the cruise around the bay returning to corpus christi. the distance of the cruise is around 75 to 90 miles.
around 5:30 to 6pm we will meet at the local a&w for cruise night to finish of the weekend.

sunday: everyone will be on their own before heading home.

the host hotel is the ramada inn bayfront located downtown on water street. the phone mumber is 361 882-8100. room rate is $59.99 for up to 4 people. the code is cobr for the special rate.

directions: everyone will be coming in on I-37.
to get to snapkas you will exit on navigation, turn right and go to leopard st. turn left and go about a 1/4 mile and you will see the drive in resturant on your left.
to get to the ramada inn you stay on I-37 all the way to downtown until you reach water street. turn right on water street and go about a 1/2 mile and you will see the hotel on your right.
to get to crosstown ford you will exit on hy.358. the sign will also say nas-ccad. hy. 358 is also called padre island drive. there is a lot of construction around the area of the dealership so you have to be careful. you will exit on ayers st. drive through the constuction and when you get to ayers you will turn left. go about 1/2 mile and you will see crosstown ford on your left.

for those of you that will need to leave your snake in my shop i should have room for maybe three cobras. by the way, the hotel has covered parking.

keeping my fingers crossed for dry weather. think thats all for now. i will need to know how many will be at snapkas as i will be reserving space for the cobras. the covered area fills up quick. since some of you may not know for sure your plans until later i'll wait until the week of the event to ask for a head count at snapkas. if anyone has any questions fill free to contact me. i'm usually not home until after 9pm. the number is 361 549-9525.

look forward to seeing ya'll!
paul

I'm 98% sure I'll make it Paul, but won't be 100% until a couple of days before.

Paul, I'll probably be in CC about 3pm or so, I'll check in and give you a call to meet at Snapkas and give you a hand there. Let's get a GOOD turnout, it's a great time!
And just a reminder, when I made my reservation, the national reservations folks didn't have the code, I had to call the local number that Paul gave above. Unless all hell breaks loose (weather or worse), I'm there!

hey guys
well, the weatherman is predicting scattered showers for next weekend. of course thats the same thing they predicted for this weekend. its been sunny and hot, but very very dry. i hope they are wrong about next weekend. anyway, i'll post updates wednesday and thursday. if it looks like rain, then i will reschedule the event for the following weekend, november 5,6,and 7. everything would be the same except for friday night at snapka's. if i have to make a change then i will come up with something for friday. keep your fingers crossed and i hope the weathermen are wrong again and we have dry weather this coming weekend.
as a footnote, i'm planning to test fire the engine in the 65 tonight. if all goes ok then it should be ready for my event.
check back with everyone in a couple of days.
paul

We're also hoping for good weather, Paul. If we reschedule, I guess the Hotel will let us move the reservations?

Default AW, DARN!!

Well, Paul, I just got "pressed" into service for another personal event that I had committed to that just got scheduled for this coming Saturday, so I won't be able to make it this weekend!!! I will be able to come down the following weekend if it is postponed...
You guys have a good time, and David, I guess we'll have to take a rain check on that lunch in Sweeney. Take lots of photos!

Paul, it looks like I will not make the trip either. I don't really care to drive the 325 mile (each way) trip alone. Maybe I'll go ahead and start the "winter Cobra makeover" a week early. Have fun!

hey guys
although the weekend of november 6th seems to work better for some, i've already made comittments for this weekend. as of today the weatherman has changed the forecast to dry on friday and saturday. several local people have made plans to attend this weekend so if there is no rain the event will go on as scheduled. i'll post tomorrow my final decison. i'll ask for a head count tomorrow so that i will know how many spots to reserve at snapkas for friday night. check with ya'll tomorrow.

ok gang
i checked with a friend of mine that does a lot of fishing and is pretty good at predicting the weather. he feels like there is a chance of showers for saturday because of the stalled front. i'm in a no win situation no matter what i do. because of the chance of rain i'm going to move the event back one week to the weekend of november 5,6,7. the saturday schedule will be the same and i will come up with something for friday. sorry for any confusion. ed or ryan or someone if you could change the dates on the sticky for this thread please. we will try again for next week. in the meantime have a great weekend and hope to see some of you next week.

hey guys
the new format will be to meet at my shop from 4-7pm for a tailgate party friday night. after 7 i'll have something for us to do. saturday's schedule will be the same. had a bunch of my friends that were all set to go this past weekend, especially with the weather being so nice, and just hope that they will come back this coming weekend. anyway, for those that do participate we should have a great time. i'll post more info and directions on thursday. the ramada inn is offering the same rate of $59.99.
have a great week.
paul
