Lightbulb Interesting Hardtop Styling

This is an interesting styling for a hardtop.
I saw this car in Europe some time ago.

Default Permanent Install?

The top seems to be a permanent install. The gas tank cover is on top of the hardtop. Notice where the trunk latch is.

Overall I love the hardtop styling. Too bad you can't remove the top.

This is Michelle from Luxembourg with his brilliant Unique 289FIA and a Le Mans Hardtop. It is revovable, the boot is the LE Mans split style. I had this car in my workshop in 1996 when it came over from US as a Kit and MR. Grohman from Germany built it up. We have this hardtop also from HAWKCARS and build the propper copy of 39PH !!!

I never considered a hard top because they were ugly, but this style has changed my mind. Available?.

The PSH hardtop is way to extreame for me, obvious Mr. Grohman
spent some time and made his look like a natural fit.

Default Interesting!

This top was shown in the "Cobra Ferrari Wars" DVD. According to the DVD, Shelby tried using this top to reduce wind drag on the Cobra to get more speed at La Mans. It didn't work so they started design on the Cobra GT.

A couple of points. The only original Le Mans Hard Top in existence is the one owned by my good friend, Ernie Nagamatsu, of 'Ole Yeller II fame. He purchased it from Benson Ford and it was the subject of an AW piece on his 289 Cobra which is not an a Le Mans car, but one that was owned and operated by Max Balchowsky, who built the 'Ole Yeller cars.

Joe Traut, who lives in Massachusetts and runs in the Miata Challenge every year, owns a Unique Cobra with the Le Mans top, which I believe was one of the first ones out there. Call Allan or Maurice at 256-546-2395 for more information. I don't recall if they manufactured these "in-house" or contracted them outside.

A other hardtop, modified by owner, is availlable in the U.K.

It looks like a Le Mans hardtop but has now a big cutout(arround the rear window) at the rear wich eliminates the need of a splitted lid.

The lid now opens "into" the hardtop.

This pic is an old one.
