Cobra-Farrari Wars DVD
I just got this from someone in London England. Does anyone know anything about this DVD?
Check out the link below:
----------------------------------------------
BBC4 showed a documentary on the history of the Cobra, especially the racing cars, a few months ago called 'The Cobra-Ferrari Wars'.
It's an excellent film - I think it's likely to be the best documentary ever made about the Cobra. It's about 60 minutes long, narrated by Robbie Coltrane, with music from the movie 'Bullitt' and it was shown on TV in anamorphic widescreen. It includes a lot of archive footage and interviews with some of the people who worked for Shelby in the 60s.
I've noticed it's going to be available on DVD soon - see:
www.spiritlevelfilm.com
There's a trailer on the website. I couldn't see any information as to whether it's PAL or NTSC, which suggests that it may be NTSC (as all European DVD players are multi-system), however the distirbutor is UK based.

Wow. That preview was the most encouraging thing I've ever seen on this website. Thanks for the info.

The other DVD they are selling is available in NTSC format--I just pre-ordered my copy from www.motorsportcollector.com. That is encouraging as they will surely sell the Cobra DVD in a format that is compatible with the U.S. market.
If you guys have never watched the "Rendezvous" DVD, it's only nine minutes long but worth the money--flat out through the streets of Paris on a Sunday morning, red lights be damned. Not politically correct, but entertaining nonetheless...

First off, any automotive show with Robbie Coltraine is a treat. Not sure how many of you ever saw the series he did on Diesel, steam, two-stroke, etc. engines. It was great stuff.
Cannot find Cobra-Ferrari video however on motorsportcollector website?? Were you referring to the Rendezvous one?

Let's hope it makes it to disc.
The trailer's old footage has all been up on the web for a while... in various pieces.. so I hope they find some "new" old footage.
A real treat was the opening... showing a race intro by... (attention...you old-fool trivia nuts...)... none other than Chris Economaki.

TC, sorry if I was vague there. I did mean to refer to Rendezvous. I figured if the Motorsport Collector sold that one, they would probably carry the other when it became available. I e-mailed Paul Zimmerman, proprietor of TMC, after my earlier post. He responded that he would find out about whether the Cobra DVD would be made available on NTSC, and get back to me. When I hear something I'll post it here--

Great documemtary,
I made a video copy of it. Focus is mainly on the Daytona Coupe. Incredible how they designed and built it. They could fabricate any part apart from the windshield, so they sat a driver in a rolling chasis, offered up the windshield to where they wanted it and built everything else around it!

I e-mailed Spirit Level Films and just received a reply indicating an NTSC version of the DVD will be made available in the fall...

Did this ever come out for U.S. DVD's? If so, where to get it?

Still Pre-Order Stage
Looks like "The Cobra-Ferrari Wars" DVD is still at the pre-order stage.
I got a DVD version of the "Bitten by the Snake". Very good 90 minute overall descriptions of the cobra replicas and racing footage.

The latest e-mail I have from the DVD producer was a couple of weeks ago. They say to look for a release date in the April-May time frame.

Great Stocking Stuffer!
Just in time for Christmas! I just reserved my copy, can't wait to see the DVD. I've been waiting for this DVD for a long time.
Better reserve your copy before November 22nd and save on the shipping and handling costs.

UPDATE!
The shipment is on it's way from England now!
I just confirmed it with Spirit Level Films! I will be sending out emails to pre-orders on my site: www.cfwars.com for online ordering via the website next week. I'll give CC members the no shipping deal through Christmas! So disregard the Nov. 22 deadline!
