2005 TCC Spring Meet Security Question

The Marriott Hotel management has asked me if we required parking lot security. The all night security would cost $300 per night. I asked for a three night bid to see if we can get a break on the overall cost. I'm figuring if we had 60 Cobra owners divided into $900 we get $15 per owner for a piece of evening security for three nights.

What do you Cobra owners think?

Goober 02-19-2005 11:51 AM

$5.00 per night is good enough for me. Can't park in downtown Houston for that! Pretty cheap piece of mind.

Ed,

You may want to consider, all of the 60 cars registered will not be parked over night in the hotel parking lot. some of the people who live in the Austin area will take their cars home at night. will it be fair for them to pay for the security for my car?

Ed Csoltko 02-19-2005 03:53 PM

All Ready Considered

I agree with you. I have ball parked the numbers. We have approx. 75 cars registered to date. I figured if we had 60 in the parking lot, that would work out to $15 per car. Those who leave their cars in the parking lot will have to pay for the security. This is still up for grabs. I'm only suggesting this if the majority wants security.

I'll pay!

Hell,

I'll pay even though I don't have a car. Its only 15 bucks for three days of meeting and greeting everyone!

Yes

I would be willing to pay $15 or so for security.

I think it is a good idea.

standard 02-20-2005 08:05 AM

I'm good with $15. Cheep peace of mind.

fordnut 02-20-2005 08:29 PM

Ed.

I just wanted to raise the question, The $15.00 is OK with me.

wolfmantx1 02-21-2005 08:17 PM

Sounds great to me...

Shouldn't we just make it part of our "registration fee" when we pick up our name tags and such?

Just and idea...

$15 is a deal....considering my Navigator got broken into in Charlotte last June to the tune of over $1700 worth of repairs, and a loss of over $750 in contents. Noone's Cobra was bothered, even though several were in the lot. The event organizer said it was our fault..the 'official' event was over that afternoon when everyone left Lowes Motor Speedway...! Damn bastards broke into 9 cars in less than 20 minutes, from what we could tell.

Next time...we will provide our own security detail. There's no substitute for owners with carry permits...!

I'm in for the $15...no problem...just make sure we know where and when to pay up. Gracias mi amigos...

Sounds good to me Ed, Great Idea!! ;)

Since we're talking about money, do we pay a registration for real, to pay for nametags, flyers, etc?

Ed Csoltko 02-24-2005 09:57 AM

TCC has never charged for registration (name tags, flyers, etc.) in the past. We always wanted a no-dues club. Everything we do is a pay-as-you-go venue.

This year since the TCC has grown so much, and we are getting more visibility from the general public, we need to be more conscious about security.

I propose that at the time of registration we have a security sign in sheet for those members who leave their cars and trailers in the Marriott parking lot over night. We will collect $15.00 from those members to cover the security cost.

I will contact the Marriott manager and see about getting this security issue going. I will report back as soon as I get any feedback from the Marriott about the private security guard.

flyboy1997 02-24-2005 01:02 PM

I would pay 15. just to watch My Truck not to mention the Cobra, Done Deal !

Mrs 66 Snake 02-24-2005 01:18 PM

Ed,
I understand a No Dues club but a pay as you go event could still have a registration fee. I don't mind picking up the tags, but there are things like the TCC website that cost dollars. Chris Noland picked it up this year and I think he's out of pocket around $100.

I do think we need a way to recoup some of those costs from the group as a whole (not neccesarily from the folks attending in Austin).

Ed Csoltko 02-24-2005 02:50 PM

Sounds Fair!

We need to ask Tom. I believe Tom has some TCC funds available from past meets. We could ask for $1 or $2 dollars per person during registration to cover misc. expenses (TCC web site, paper, name tags, printing, etc.) and give dollars to our treasurer (whoever that may be).

Tom, any suggestions?

427Aggie 02-24-2005 02:59 PM

In the past we have done a donation by people that want to. It used to pay for the security guard that followed us around all day. Now whatever was left over was kept by the treasurer and then we just payed what we needed to out of it and added to it over the years. I don't know whats in it now but who is the treasurer? We should have something in it at least.

I will be happy to kick in $20 for the security.

matt
