2005 Club Cobra Fundraiser
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP/GET THE LITTLE GOLD TROPHY NOW IS THE TIME.
This is a copy from A-Snake over on ALL COBRA TALK. "2005 Club Cobra Fundraiser Please Read For past few years TURK has headed up a fund raising drive for Brent Mills and the Club Cobra Forum. These funds were used to keep the servers etc. “maintained”. Sponsors now help to defray the costs via their ads. Brent has done a wonderful job in establishing a premier board that is free to its members. Brent works his magic to keep the forum up and running. So this is now a token of our appreciation. He has never asked for it, and he accepts gracefully. Ever notice those little gold trophies next to the user name? That’s what YOU get for showing your support for Club Cobra. Plus there are advanced edit privileges you will receive. In order to give TURK a break from this task, I have volunteered to handle it for this year. I hope I can be as successful as Turk has been in years prior. The membership to CC has now grown to over 12,000 worldwide. Around 6300 have posted at least once on the board. (Someone has posted over 7600 times!) The balance of the members simply enjoy reading and learning about their hobby. I knew of the board some time ago but did not join and frankly didn’t think there was anything here that would be of any value. Finally last fall I joined and became amazed at the wealth of information that is represented by the membership of this forum. I have learned so much more about the original cars that started it all. I have had the chance to read and interact on threads with people that have knowledge and wonderful experiences with some of the most desirable cars in the world. For someone wanting to buy or build a car, I can’t imagine not making use of the talent and information available on this board. For those of us that simply wish to BS about our hobby or anything else with other ‘gear-heads’, there is a place here to do that. In the last 6 months or so we have seen tremendous human kindness shown by members of this club. Things like Dwayne and his dream of a Shelby. How businesses and sponsors and members stepped up to make it happen. How a Kirkham was created from members’ donations to raise $50,000.+ to help in the Tsunami disaster in Asia. Kindness extended from these types of things to the simple “Can someone help me fix my car?” Now here is what you can do to support CC. Write a check made out to Brent Mills PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH (I want the accounting kept transparent) Mail it to: CLUB COBRA 5301 NW BLUFF DR PARKVILLE, MO 64152 Please include: Your user name and your real name. If you only include your real name I will not be able to find your user name This year I will list in a separate thread the list of donors. I will only list the user name not your real name. (Unless you request your real name be used) I will not list the individual amounts, only the total raised For those that wish to use PayPal (Remember Pay Pal subtracts their charges) Email to: cobra289@kc.rr.com Again, please include your user name. Please email or PM with any questions or suggestions. I am open to ideas that will make this the most successful year. Last year TURK put together over $7200. during the event. With 6200 members that have posts, just $1.50 apiece would be unreal! (No pun intended) As for the member with 7600 posts, $1.00 for each post would beat last year’s total! I would like to conclude this by the end of May. I’m not looking to make a career of this. So in advance, thank you for your support." |
Fred,
Good idea to bring this to the attention of the members again. Just take a look at the posts by members with no trophy and then let them answer how many other clubs they belong to where you don't have to pay dues. I have dropped out of two this year because of increasing dues and you aren't even allowed to post directly if you have a question. It must be sent to the club president and he determines if it is worthy of being posted for an answer. I have gotten more help from this club and the great people in it than all of the other clubs and people I have ever known. So no amount of words can properly thank Brent for all the hard work he puts into making this a great place for us to ask questions, get great answers, and even occasionaly start an argument just to keep the moderators on their toes. ( Just Kidding all of you Moderators. You do a great job. ) :) Ron %/ |

Thanks Fred, and Ron!
Boys,
I really have no excuses, but I logged on this afternoon at the office during a little bit of "down time" and this post hit me!! My check is in this afternoon's mail with a note of apology for being a slackard! John Russell:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o |
John,
You helped a lot on this last year and are no slackard. Just like you, a lot of people don't see this post once it gets shuffled off the front page. That is why I try to bring it back on when I see it is missing. Ron :) |
Just do it!
I haven't been paying attention either. It's that time of the year and we all know the drill. This is by far THE best money you will ever spend. the knowledge and friendship here is second to none. My check is in the mail! Thank you Brent for your continued support and hard work!!

Now that I know the drill, I'm in...and so is my check!

Come on TCC, get your name on the list!
Esteemed TCC members,
As a Club, the TCC has ALWAYS been a large comtributing member percentage to the annual fund, and Brent has used us as an example of how "things should be done" when other areas are looking at forming a group! Come on guys & gals, pull out the old checkbook, write our a check in whatever amount you feel comfortable with and mail it in! You will get a little gold trophy by your name, but best of all, YOU WILL FEEL BETTER!! It is really pretty cool, but I promise you it works! John Russell TRy it, you will like it! |

Come on TCC, let's show some support!!
Come on Texas,
Brent has joined us twice now for our annual TCC event in Austin, and he continues to use us as the shining example of how to develop a local/regional/state/national group!!! Let's step up to the plate once again to support him, because quite frankly, without this web site virtually NONE of us would enjoy what we now have! Please SEND IN A CHECK! In case you missed it Club Cobra 5301 N.W. Bluff Drive Parkville, Mo 64152 Make them out to Brent Mills, and send what you can/feel this is worth, but just DO IT!! Thanks, John Russell |

Now did someone say that the Australians on the east coast have sent in more checks than the whole of Texas.. :3DSMILE: not a challenge of course.. |
SUPPOSEDLY, California is the center of the car universe (at least in the States, Bernie), so how are us nutty folks here on the left coast doing????
Doug:confused: |
Cool, I'll send some money this week!
|
Bernie, you obviously mis-read the tally!
Bernie, for shame!!
You need to get your glasses prescription checked! What the post "actually" said was that EVERY check from Texas was more than the TOTAL the Australians on the east coast have sent in! So there, you guys really need to break out the big bucks just to prove me wrong       Cheers, John Russell ps just kidding, my friend! |
Count me in too!
