John Russell and I met Jay this afternoon at the auction. Lots of cool cars, some auctioned surprisingly cheap, some not so surprisingly expensive. I shot some video, but took very few pictures to post in the gallery.
Jay would love to have more company tomorrow. |
Hey John, You were close but it was not John Russell it was me the other JR.
Jay thank you for pass and the cold ones. For those of you keeping track after today Jay is +1 in the car market, sold 2 bought 3. :D :D He has 5 more going across the block tomorrow. Can you imagine what he will buy next, I can he showed it to me at the auction. John |
Oops John (Ross); sorry.
So we are supposed to keep the Saleen a secret? |
not a Saleen or whatever
I did aquire the car last night but not quite ready to disclose what it is;)
Here is the math through day two with day three today. Sold five cars=bought five cars-one car as a gift to an Illinois minister-one truck bought for a friends son=one tired puppy still with a day to go not counting moving all of the cars. Sold the Willys (Buzz you should have bought it), all of the cobras (Backdraft was highest bid cobra), the Duesenbug, and the Mercedes. Kept the GTX and the 64 Galaxie. I really like both those cars so no harm no foul. Neatest car bought is a 1963 Chevy Impala SS. Beautiful car and I stole it. Best deal is an 84 vette for $6,000. Already have offers on that car. Probably won't make the trip home. Thanks to all who came to the event. Makes the day go better to share my madness with others:LOL: Film at eleven or at least a description of the ??????? car. Jay |
that '64 Galaxie is sooo cool. Can't believe i didn't take a pic of it in Tulsa. (at least can't find one of it!) :(
looking forward to seeing the new surprise toy. Bring it to the AER toy drive in December???? ;) sorry i didn't make it down to the show. #2's birthday party yesterday, and today i am heading out to Redline!!!!! :p :D :D :D :D hope all goes well today, Jay. :) Kristen |
Good going Jay !
Here is a listing of the cars available at the auction. http://www.leakecar.com/line_listing...ction=DALFAL06 |
Lot#2527
how much for that one??? Cashier's Check?? I'm good for it.... ;) :D (KIDDING KIDDING! ) |
I'll take #466, please. As soon as those 6 little numbers on the Lotto line up...
|
OK, OK... you found me out. There wasn't a Saleen to be had at any price. Maybe next year. Jay said that the number of highend cars continues to grow every year at this auction.
|
Jay,
I'm Envious of that '63 Impala SS.:D My very first experiences ( summer '63 ) with street racing and top end runs were out in West Texas on those arrow straight unpopulated farm to market roads in my cousins blue '63 SS 327 - 300 hp 4 speed. Look forward to seeing it. |
thanks Fred for the link
Whew!! Glad that is over. Still have four cars to move in the morning. didn't buy or sell anything today.
Kristen, 2527 I believe was a no sale and is owned by a friend of Dan Hardiman who was there on Saturday for a short while...aniversary celebration break;) Miles, I couldn't find 466 on the list, did you mean 456? Okay, now that it is easy to view some pics, I bought #2538 listed as a Chaparrel pro street race car. The pics don't do this one off car any justice. It is amazing. Weighs 1,300 lbs. and has about 250 hp. It may make me come out of retirement from competitive driving. Just an idea of speed and power, 1/4 mile drags,,, mid 10's:eek: I think RUN AND GUN maybe in it's future....now how do I classify it? Small block, 4 or 6 x2?:JEKYLHYDE Anyway the molds and all jigs and engineering is available to me. Hmmmmmm is there something afoot here:3DSMILE: Jay |
Jay, the Chaparrel looks amazing. A Speed Zone car on steriods!
#466 is a 1969 Boss 429. Just love the Big Block '69's. Don't care if the numbers match, I want to drive the mother. Glad you had fun, can't wait to see your new toys! |
Better than watching Barret Jackson on TV
It was cool to be there and know some of the cars being actioned. It was nice meeting your mother also. Thanks again Jay.
|
your mother went with you??? why- to hold your piggy bank??? ;) :D
congrats Jay on a big weekend! k |
well, damn Jay, I thought I would out wait you on the Willys (smiles). I hope you had a nice time at the auction. I know there is a fever that happens in those places. Getting out without raping your check book is a miracle! And if you made some cash, that is the best fun. I will see what the future brings, and maybe a new play car sometime, if this @^$%#&$# house does not do me in.....29 internal piers after the leak under the slab is fixed! If not for that, I would have jumped with Deano on the 40. Have fun! hope to see ya soon
