Barrett-Jackson Lot#1301

Okay, who's going to bid on this one (no reserve):

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/carli...LotNumber=1301

Carroll Shelby's personal "Supersnake", CSX 3015 (800hp, twin Paxton superchargers) is one of two Super Snake Cobras built. The other being CSX 3303 built for Bill Cosby. CSX 3303 was a 1967 427 street car retained by Shelby American as a PR car and then made into a Super Snake for Bill Cosby. CSX3303 was later wrecked, leaving CSX3015 as the only one of its kind in the world.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/about...sonalCobra.asp

"When I built this dual supercharged 427 Cobra in 1966, I wanted it to be the fastest, meanest car on the road," said Shelby. "Forty years later, it will still kick the tail of just about anything in the world. It's the fastest street legal Cobra I've ever owned."

And the winning bid is: ?,???,???.??

My guess is ... Two million eight hundred thousand US dollars.

thudmaster 01-12-2007 12:07 AM

Gonna be more than I can afford this week........

ffindling 01-12-2007 01:52 AM

Supersnake......

Lot #1301, Barrett-Jackson's first five million dollar car.
A "must have" for Discovery Channel boss John S. Hendricks.

The owner of the car is Harley Cluxton. He thinks 6 million. I think that's too high but, who knows. We'll all know a week from Saturday.

Do I hear $6,500,000?

meandmyprs 01-12-2007 05:59 AM

so hear is the question...do all of the "non-cobra-esqe" mods on this car, i.e. automatic, motor, hood, etc. destroy value of this car? Along the same lines would buying this car and converting back to standard, normal hood, standard engine (whatever that is) destroy value?...5 mill is typical BJ smack...this car sells MAY break the 2 mill barrier however.

double ugly 01-12-2007 06:11 AM

Converting it back would really destroy it's value as the only existing car of it's type.

PRS:

Isn't the real value in this car the mods, since they were performed by Carroll?

r1duley 01-12-2007 10:18 AM

It's real hard for me to believe a $650,000 car is going to go for more than seven times it's value because the car was transformed by Carroll Shelby.
It doesn't have any racing history. I would say it needs racing history to bring $5mm.

But this is Barrett Jackson - crazy things happen when people are on TV.

RedBarchetta 01-12-2007 10:48 AM

Realistically, what is the actual "universe" of buyers that can (or are willing) to approach the $3MM level?!? Sure there are the Bill Gates of the world out there, but not all of them are wacko car guys that HAVE to have a particular car for their little museums or private Garage Mahals. Maybe a Jay Leno? The fact is this car will most likely rarely be driven again at any spirited level...it has become the trailer queen to end all trailer queens and that's exactly why BJ is licking their chops...some fool is going to step up with enough FU money to spare and make a statement on national television. All I can say is I hope to see Mr. Ferrari Hat make an ass of himself (again).

Speaking of BJ, what does BJ get on the sale? 10% ?

Michael P. Wole 01-12-2007 12:14 PM

buyer premuim(a privilage charge the way i see it)
seller pays also
sales tax in AZ.?..in Illinois no sales tax if titled as a '65
Bottom line is BJ comes out a-ok

Put the Supersnake on display on the floor of a major Las Vegas casino and the cobraphiles of America will check it out and probably drop enough cash in the casino to recoup 5-6 mill cost in a week for the casino owners. I'd go there to see it and drop my usual 1000.00:)

ffindling 01-12-2007 09:04 PM

BJ fees.....

BJ charges an 8% fee, based on "hammer down" price to BOTH seller
and buyer.

Mr. Ferrari Hat is the buyer for the gentleman that owns the Discovery Channel (John S. Hendricks). As for folks with enough bank to make 3mil purchases - there are plenty at B-J. Sounds flip, but there are probably a couple hundred folks or more walking around Saturday afternoon. I can't see the car doing 3mil but who knows.

double ugly 01-13-2007 04:18 AM

Buyer pays 10 %.

BJ changed their commission rates for 2007. As mentioned, buyer pays
10%, Consignor pays 8% ($500 minimun) on No Reserve sales.
