New to this forum-DFW area-Added pics
Hello.
I go by Starboy on FFR's site, but this is my first post here.
I went the donor route on my build with a `99 Cobra I bought Sept. of `05. I got my kit delivered in December of `05, but it's still got a little ways to go. I've driven it with the body on now for about 10 miles to try to get some of the kinks out, but mostly working on mounting components. I went with aftermarket wiring from Ron Francis and The Detail Zone, Tbird rear spindles and brakes, IRS, and PS/PB (no ABS).
Probs:
My PS is leaking a little, rear diff is leaking a bit, rear wheels are rubbing when the tank is full (ordered a set of spacers to widen a bit), emergency brake needs to be tightened to engage, wheels need alignment, high beam beam works but indicator stays on all the time, and the wipers need to get installed.
Good:
All gauges, lights, switches, and drivetrain appear to work very well.
Once I get a few things fixed and installed I'm getting insurance and inspection to start the titling process.
I've gotten the body in pretty decent shape, but during the mounting process I've decided to have someone else finish up the body. If anyone knows of a good source near Dallas drop me an email.
Input is appreciated.
Don

Great Guy
I would highly recommend Paul Burdick at Collision Pro in Plano. He did a great ob on my Lonestar and he is just a nice guy. He had many hot rods from all over the US in his shop. His number is 972 398 9934. Located at 1212 J Ave, Plano, TX

Hey Don. Your build looks good.
I was curious if you had a chance to go check out collision pro in Plano?
I am almost at the paint stage on my car and was looking for a paint shop. Since they were recomended on a earlier post I was wondering what your impression was and is their pricing fair.
I am not building a cobra but would like to check out any cobra that is near by Lewisville. If anyone wants to check out a FFR GTM build that is what I am working on now. www.msexchangelab.com

TK1.. your GTM looks great. Maybe my next project..
I called and spoke with Paul at Collision Pro in Plano and he sounded very confident that he do what needed to be done (could align the panels, paint, etc.). I forwarded the pics above and a few more to the email address he provided, but haven't heard back from him yet on an estimate. I'm going to get back with him for an estimate and I'm sure it will be competitive.
However..my neighbors got a shop in Lewisville and he's done a few Cobra's before so I've been waiting to get mine in with him. He helped me off and on with all the work I've done so far, but he's had other jobs to get out and he tells me he can fit me in now so I think I'm going to go that route.
I'll let you know.

Don,
What is the name of his shop? Maybe I will stop by there and check out his work. It would be nice to find a local painter so I can keep an eye on the progress. :-)

It's a small shop and he works on other cars, but he'd agreed to get on to mine here soon. I don't know what else he has to take a look at, but let me get mine in and you can see how it comes out. I know that there is a specialty painter right next door that is also small, but he does really nice 3d paint work. Not that I'll do it, but I was considering ghost stripes with ghost flames. We'll see.

here's a good painter
probably done more cobras than anyone else. Great at ghosting and House of Kolor. David Braddy in Ennis 972-878-9553. Tell him Jay sent you. Also in Lewisville, Steve with Restrides off 121. He painted my last cobra. same mention my name. He also painted my 64 galaxie.
