A little racing video from Hallett in Tulsa
Hey gang, I finally got around to downloading the video from the track event at Hallett a few weeks ago. It came out pretty good. Here is a 5 minute teaser for you to watch. It has Clois, Billy, and Larry R. in it as well...

That is great video. I have been working on the same and can really appreciate how hard it is to capture the experience. Of course the resolution compression is always an issue on the internet I bet it looks and sounds superb on the home setup.
Great Video! |
James, I felt like I was there. Thanks.
|
Excellent, way to take the Daytona, That was kinda a dirty pit manuever on the blue/white cobra, don't you play well with others LOL!!!
What were your top speeds, car sounded great. Thanks |
Great video and great driving. Like the way you handle the wheel. Looks like you've got a ton of torque; not much shifting. Send us more.
|
Next time I'll have real racing rubber and we'll see how the coupe will corner. Great video!!! Who spun in the "Turtle Turn"?
Stay cool. See you at RnG. |
Greatness!
You know, James, I know what kind of laps you were running and it really doesn't do it justice. That blue Cobra that spun in 3 was the #5 Cobra. Is he from Grand Prarie or something? He parked down at the bottom of the hill before Larry & Sam's place. I think I've met him once, but don't know him. |
James,
Nice video! Thanks for sharing it with those of us who couldn't make the trip. Over the years I been fortunate enough to run some SCCA events at Hallett in both directions. It is really a neat track and I always enjoyed racing there but just hated the 10 hour tow. Your cars always look BEAUTIFUL and perform extremely well.:D Regards, Terry |
Excellent, James!
Very instructional for me, have just run the same course in Group III :D Shift points, racing line, etc. I see we both run the entire course in 3rd except for the long straights. I had a lot of trouble with the chronic 2nd to 3rd balkiness of the TKO 600, so tended to stay out of 2nd, even in turn 3 CW.
Group III was kind of mis-understood. After one slow session, all the hot shoes moved up to Group II, and every session more people moved up because instructors were mandatory in Group III. The (semi) cool thing was that they wouldn't put an instructor in a Cobra with a single roll bar. So every session .. less traffic:D The 5th session, they put me out first and I did not see another car in my mirror until I lapped a couple Mustangs late in the session. Sam |
James,
Great video! Thanks for posting it. I look forward to meeting you - probably at Run-n-Gun .... if my plans come together. Jody |
Thanks, that will have to do for my Cobra fix for a while, but it really hit the spot for me. I shattered my foot last week, so driving is out for me for a while.
Nice driving! |
MORE VIDEO, MORE VIDEO, MORE VIDEO.....
James....really enjoyed it...your car sounds great....nice driving and a cool helmet!!! |
"Popeye" is looking and running good, James. Great video!
Looking forward to seeing you guys again in St. Louis in October. |
Thanks guys for the great feedback! I really enjoyed running the car at Hallett. I had much more video, but I only picked some of the video with my fellow Cobra buddies in it. I had more fun when I was driving with the gang!
Larry, you are going to be a serious contender at Run n Gun this year when you get those sticky tires on there. I can hardly wait to see how well you will do. If you can do that well with hard radial tires, I am in for a treat! The blue Cobra that spun out was Mike's SPF driven by Billy. They are from Houston. Billy was seeing how far he could go with me on his tail... That was really funny, because I knew the spin was going to happen sooner or later... Billy is a great sport! If you guys want more video, just go to my website. There is video of me in the Coupe as well and some drag racing... www.radicalroadsters.com Bests to all and see you at Run-n-Gun, James |
Great video. I could watch that for hours. Damn I need to get a car.
|
nice, James.
done it both ways, myself. :MECOOL: quite fun and almost like being the driver (not  :p ) by riding along with you. thanks for the ride. :D a bit more fun doing it myself, but this is good enough for this time. btw. the wind noise is quite bearable and contained nicely in your setup. cool. :) kristen ps. do you want me to send the cd to you?? or.... along with Larry to run n gun??? seems like a long way away?????????????????????????????? |
Thanks James,
I enjoyed the video since I only got on the track for two laps on Saturday because of a bad alternator.....$145.00 for two laps what a dissappointment and plus I had to be towed in from the fartherest point on the track. By the way James thanks again for your help diagnoising the problem on Saturday. My battery was completely drained and has taken and held a nice charge since. Clois |
Kristen, sorry you didn't get on the track, maybe next year... Thanks for taking some pics of the car. If you can send them to me that would be great:
12211 Lakewood Glen Ct Cypress, TX 77429 Clois, glad to hear all is well with the charging system. For a guy without any "spark," you sure were kicking some butt out there... Bests, James |
Ahhhh, tooo baaad Clois.....
$145.00.......chicken feed. Bad alternator?....... child's play!!!! How about a rebuild....... top that buddy. I give James' son Brandon the "ride of his life", burn a bearing, and I'm gone for the weekend. I figure Brandon got a $2000 ride. NOW THAT'S RACING!!!!!!! Pulled the engine out yesterday morning, will deliver to OKC Saturday. I'll be back next year..... oh yes..... I'll be back........ Oh yeah, nice video James....... at least you didn't pass me.:LOL::LOL: |
At least Steve didn't blame his spun bearing on lugging my big ass around the track for a couple of laps....:LOL::LOL:
