Default Cars and Coffee Sat 5/30

Re the discussion on the Meet and Greet Thread ... the relevant article by Terry Box in the Saturday DMN is below. We have jshel, jdean, jayscobras, whichone, and me so far. Think about whether you want to arrive en masse or not and what time. If we rendezvous to do that, I suggest 9 am somewhere like Starbucks at, 5960 West Parker Road, SE corner Parker Rd and Tollway. That's about 1 mile south of the BMW store.

Again, the address is: 6800 Dallas Parkway, Plano, Tx. Major intersection is Dallas North Tollway and Spring Creek Parkway. Take the Spring Creek Parkway East ramp and you're there. Map is below.

==================
Classic BMW to bring Cars and Coffee to Plano once a month

Terry Box

Cars and Coffee, a Saturday-morning staple in Southern California, comes to Classic BMW in Plano on May 30.
In the People's Republic, designers, hot-rodders, B-grade actors and even bluebloods from the Ferrari and Porsche castes meet to check out each other's cars and have coffee on Saturday mornings.
The group in Plano may not be quite that eclectic, but it should be interesting. All types of cars are welcome. And starting with the first event May 30, Cars and Coffee will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on the last Saturday of each month.
The cars will gather on the northwest corner of Classic BMW's parking lot at 6800 Dallas Parkway. Admission is free, but the organizers will seek small donations on behalf of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Great Idea! Count me in also. I wonder if those Beemers have alarm systems that will ignite if we come in together...&/or if John Ross comes, the dealer will have to dust off their new car inventory. Starbucks at 9:00am.

Don’t count on me I am going to be out of town.

There is a place on Preston Road between Spring Creek and Parker, The Bread Winner”, that has great breakfast and a large patio; we should keep it in mind for one or our summer breakfast meets.

Sorry I couldn't make the Meet and Greet. My new dual-purpose tires are worthless on any wet surface (don't ask me how I know...) Had to make a last minute call and bailed out. Sounds like it was a blast.

I would like to meet up and arrive with you guys, if you will accept a closed-car at the tail end. I can probably make part of the Coffee event (kids' soccer tourn.) I look forward to meeting everyone.

Best,
Paul

I am on the fence. The Mustang needs new brakes and Rotors and an oil change. I will see how things go between now and then. I am trying to get everything done, so I can make the June meet though since I haven't made one since March.

Is that Beemer a stick or an automatic? Looks like he's about to have a head-on (collision, that is).

Not sure. This new option sure beats the extra cup holders in a minivan.

Default I should be there.

Assuming my flight gets me in to dfw at a reasonable time tonight I will be there. Is everyone meeting at 9am at the Starbucks?

Default Starbucks @ 9

David, I see several of us agreeing to meet at Starbucks at 9 to head up the road and arrive at BMW as a group. So yes, there will be a departure from Starbucks, 5960 West Parker Road, SE corner Parker Rd and Tollway.

Of course if this time does not suit someone, then do join up at BMW when you can

Guys,
Your cars looked great. By the time I got my Shelby down to BMW, you had left five minutes before! Shucks. But I will say that the purple Lone Star and the three other 427s really rocked the show! And everyone I asked about where the Cobras went--knew exactly when you had pulled out!
Next month for sure! And I'll be on time.
Paul

Yeah I got there just before 11AM and most folks were already gone. But it did draw a wide variety of cars.

Default Good Event!

This was the first one and I think it was a hit for Classic BMW and the Alzheimer's charity. The four of us that met at Starbuck's got there around 9:15 and stayed about an hour plus. We didn't get there quite early enough, the coffee was gone, but plenty of ice water. Eric was already there with his purple LSC and the light green original street car we see at AER was also there. Yes, we bailed out about 10:30 or so, everyone else was starting to leave. It was getting hot!

I'd guess about 250 cars of every description, including all the exotics, old and new Porches, Vettes, Jags, muscle cars of all types, vintage Rolls, on and on ... great fun!

Here is us:

Reyburn was showing off his new motor. He has been looking for something less automated that he could spend some quality time fiddling with:

Let's do it again .. we'll be in Tulsa next time, but maybe July!

All I can say is WOW what a show!!! that was a great time, can't believe so many great cars were there and only wish I had more time to talk with everyone. People were coming at me in all directions. I can bet that next month the show will be done by 10 at the latest due to the heat. And just glad this time I remembered to take pictures

The BMW GM thanked us for coming and we mentioned that over the summer months they may wish to consider an evening event. As Sam stated, there are plenty of lights in this lot for the car to shine. We'll have to watch postings on this event.

Well I hated to miss that event - but a big PrimeTime Basketball Tournament in Dallas this weekend. 7 games in all Friday, Sat, and Sunday.

A first nonetheless, I watched my 16 yr old, get into the Opponents head. Not once, but twice - the first got ejected (out of the building), the second got a technical foul and had to leave the floor. In total he scored 106 points, and in one game (17 points) made every shot except 1 free throw.

my life...

see next weekend...
Francis
