HOT! Thank God we had Nurse Jackie to administer cold water, Gater-Aid, more water, cold towels, and being a constant reminder to stay "hydrated, damn it!" and her famous cookies. It was a great time had by all in spite of the heat. Here are some of the pic's from Birdseye Photography:
As you you have seen in SSssammy's post...that huge hp caught me over the hill, and ended up kickin' my butt.
I've got some great shots taken over the weekend and will post some more later. We just got unpacked and it's time for a Dewars and more water.
Stay cool...and BTW, luvdablues, Gene (CVAR Group 1) in the Red sedan tried to get a piece of me going into the "b!tch" and ended up 4 wheels off. hehehe

I was asked to do a short article on Hallet/Shelby event for an on line magazine. If any of you have some pictures I could use, it would be greatly appreciated. I didn't take very many so help is needed! I like to see the cars but prefer the people. Send me what you can to thelampes@aol.com
The weekend was a lot of fun. Saturday was the pick day. Once again a silly torn Gilmer/cog belt put me on the trailer. I really enjoyed seeing everyone. Next year maybe we can coordinate better and park closer together. I think I lost about 10 pounds out in the heat. It was 124 deg. inside the GT40!

Huge crowds inspite of the temperature but some key people were missing. Some of my favorite people were left at home for various reasons and I missed you guy's (and Kristen).

Good job Larry. I'll have to harass Gene about that.
Hmmmm.... 103 degree heat in Tulsa, or 76 degrees at Lake Tahoe. Since both events are over, maybe it's a toss-up! But that was cruel calling me as the vintage race was roaring by in the back ground!

Steve, we missed you this year. Get that thing back together and get back next year. I think you should paint it orange!

Hey guys sorry I missed Friday night and the rest of the weekend as when John Ross and I got back from Hallet Friday late afternoon I wasn't feeling to well thinking it might of been heat related even though I was drinking water and gatorade all day. Thought I didn't want to go to Hallett or Drag Strip Saturday in the heat again so just checked out and headed home about 4:00pm. Clearly was the right decision as over the 4 hour drive I had to pull over 5 times and puke my guts out. Then the chills and fever later that evening and turns out that polish saugage I had at Hallet might of been a left over from the 2008 event!!
Much better Sunday and today getting back to normal and regreting what I missed but would of been up in the room anyway............see ya all soon!

That was an "SBD" flatulant...Silent, but deadly. Poor John, he was tearing up and had to take a helicopter ride to air out after the ride in the coupe.
Hehehe! Vector! You have a sick sense of humor...I kinda like it.

that was my plan, black car had a carb that was too lean and needed the tires changed out for the other set on the grey car because of a tire vibration, grey car needed the brakes looked at because the rotor runout was returning on the rears again, turned out the adjuster for the front/rear brake bias was kind of reversed, front was rear, rear was front, we were up til 11pm thu. getting the brakes rebleed and still didn't know if that would fix it, plus the new brake switch was put on the black car in preperation for taking it so the grey car didn't really have any brake lights to speak of, was hesitent to go to the track without any brake lights, i really don't rely on them but i'm sure somebody behind me could have.
fri morning i was changing carbs on the black car and still had not packed and would of had to leave by 1pm or 2pm to make registration.
i was tired from work and all this and decided if anything i would drive the grey car down early sat as a last effort, really wanted to go and meet some of the guys but it just didn't work out and got a lot of stuff done around here.
the tire vibration on the biele turned out to be the inside half of a front rim was out .041 from what the machine said, he had an upright break and the rim that was showing damage turned out to be good, it was the other one out of round, so maybe something was ran over in all the excitement. the grey car now wears the bad rim and sports the vibration til i can get a new half.
i'll be ready next time, the hood is getting painted now and a good alignment, corner weight adjustment, and carb tune and i'll be done. i'm tired of working on this stuff.
it's fun to look at the pics and read everyones experience though.

Mark,
Sounds like your real close on sorting them both out. Please post pics once you get the hood in place.
