A friend of mine Randy Bishop is an artist in Rockwall, TX. He normally does wildlife and I talked him in to trying a Cobra. I think did a great job and couldn't be more pleased. If you want to check out some of his other work his website is rmackbishop@sbcglobal.com

He charges $300 for car only and $400 with owner.

Jim,

Does he come to your place.....or do you take car to him....and about how long are you there to pose etc? I suppose another option is to email him a pic that he can paint from?

John

He'll take several photos, with various angles and you'll pick which photo/angle you like the best. Or if you already have photos you like he can use them.

Sorry - he's flexible about where to meet as long as the distance is reasonable.

I can understand that. I can sketch the outline of an object quite well, but the people in the scene all look like this:

Very nice.

Here is a drawing and water-colour that a friend did of my Cobra engine.

It has pride of place on my office wall along with a large print of the photo from the front cover of Trever Legate's book.

Very nice. That would make one cool poster. You should take the picture to a poster shop and see how much they would charge. I would love to have that one hanging in my garage.

I agree...takes skills to do that. I think my stick people would blend in better with this one, too.

He is, very! but that is what he does for a living. Here is another example of his work. This was a large billboard on the back of the main grandstand at the Le Mans Classic last year.

You'll also, no doubt, be pleased to know that he has an original 427 Cobra.

I have some more Cobra sketches that he has done, but I'll need to check with him if it is OK to post them up on here.

Paul

Yes, I'll be there. We're going down in the Cobra for the full weekend. Not been before, so we're really looking forward to it.

Anyone else on here going?

Paul

Be sure to bring a vintage outfit so that you will be allowed in the paddock area.....I went in 2005 and it was a great experience.

Thumbs up

Hi Paul, saw your car with the new polished look at stoeneleigh- excellent.
probably not going this year, went 2 years ago to the sunday event - absolutely fantastic, but worth a grandstand ticket if you can get it - my neck and shoulders were a bit strained from being parked on the grass banking, and trying to lift my son over the heads of the telephoto lens tossers who always pushed in front once the race started.

Hi Kevin,

We have startline grandstand tickets for the Saturday and general entrance tickets for Sunday.
You should have come and said hello at Stoneleigh. I was being largely ignored by the CRC "core". I've since joined the 289 Register as they're a much easier bunch to get on with.

would have done, but the car was sitting on its own. i had a chat with a tall chap who was asking about your car, and 'was it mine?' () - he was also building a kirkham and wanted a chat with another owner. couldnt blag that one! you'll enjoy the revival, prticularly if you have grandstand seats. the startline girls with their 60s skirts and lollipop sticks was one of the highlights for me.
