Thumbs up FFR Daytona Coupe in Hastings, NE

A short update for you Dallas folks about your brethren up here in Hastings, Nebraska.

Two days under Larry's and my belts. You might not believe this, but Larry is one heck of a driver. That little FFR kicked my butt in race 2 today. He's kept all four wheels on both days. As for me, I've been mowing the alfalfa fields with my radiator fan ......................... literally.

The weather is perfect, slightly overcast, mid 70's. The track is flat as a pancake, but very fun. Picture Hallett w/o rolling hills. Majority of the corners are late apexes, so it's a slow learning process for me.

Larry will post photo's later. Most of them from the race with me chasing him......probably.

To all. If you haven't ever tracked your car on a race track, you're missing something special. Take up Don's September 11th opportunity.

Smile Great racing weekend!!!!!

Motorsports Park Hastings, MPH (or as Don Barnes renamed it, per Geo. Anderson... "Makin' People Happy"! is a great track for us amateurs.

I wanted to get my Vintage Motor Counsel racing license so I can go racing with my Formula Ford. Long story...short version: Went to Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing Club event at MPH to prove to the club's Liscencing Director that I was competent on the track. Objective met! VMC license being processed so I can now race at Hallet and TWS this fall with CVAR.

Steve and I had a great weekend with lots of close racing. Only a few tenths of a second difference in our times after I got the old cobwebs brushed off. The Coupe was very reliable. All I had to do between sessions was to gas, check air pressures, torque wheels, inspect corners and under the bonnet, buckle up and get ready to hit the track.

Here is a short video of Steve attempting a very lame pass in turn 13, which Jackie gleefully recorded, hehehe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=545uUcLuKXE

I'll post some more videos after I get them down loaded.

Geese thanks pal. It sure felt faster that it looked.

Where are the tapes of Sunday's 1st race? That was the highlight of my weekend.

Larry running a FFR Daytona Coupe (2100 lb exibition car), myself with a REAL '65 Mustang (2900 lbs), a '65 Corvette (3200 lbs w/ 327) and a Porche 911 (exibition car, specs ?) were all gridded next to each other and ran the entire race together. WHAT A HOOT! All of our fastest lap times were within 7/10s of a second. We all crossed the finish line within 7 seconds! On the second to last lap the Porche slid into the "pit out" lane and fell behind. I snuck past the 'Vette and beat him by 6/10s of a second............. oh yeah, Larry beat us by 4 seconds (ho hum).

As I mentioned in the previous post, Mr. Reyburn is one damn good driver. I guess he's my new hero!

Now everyone needs to help me talk him out of taking that delivery of that open wheeler and get a real race car.......... BIG BORE class.

Default MPH Hastings

It was great to have you guys visit my Track in Hastings and have fun with the other competition! I did some Videos of the Big Bore Group Start and also one of the Daytona and Mustang coming out of 12 and down to 13 just before the finish line. Having the RMVR and the Showboat Grand Prix here is our Premier Vintage event of the year. The quote about MPH "Making People Happy" was actually authored by Randy Thomas after the Spring HP in Nebraska Sponsored by Superformance and Don Barnes authored this one I'm very proud of too! " I just wanted to personally thank you for all the hospitality and letting the Superformance Cobras play at your track. You have a first class track facility and staff, I will do my best to get back to MPH soon. If you need anything just drop me a note. If you have any event organizers that are sitting on the fence and wondering about using your facilities, please tell them to call me. I loved everything about MPH, it is on nice to go to a place that is safe, clean, great bathrooms, great showers, great club house and yes, a great race track. Scott Holley said it best “ easy to learn, hard to master”. Racers from every where will be hooked if they drive it.

Default A little note about MPH Raceway

Let me first say that George Anderson runs a first class facility at MPH Motorsports Park in Hastings, Nebraska, and has the hospitality of a southern gentleman with the enthusiasm of a western cowboy that used to roam the plains in which his facility rests. I highly suggest making the trek to MPH no mater where on the planet you are, in order to get a chance to appreciate this wonderful area. While I did indeed give alternate name to the MPH of Motorsports Park Hastings, to "M.aking P.eople H.appy"... that had a lot to do with "the man", George Anderson... as well as all the crew at MPH and Gessford Machine.

And while MPH may appear to be a flat and easy track at first glance, I'd rather consider it a forgiving track with a lot of character... one that's easy to learn, but hard to master. and that makes for a perfect place to have fun of all experience levels!

Randall

Default Hear hear. I second that chear!

Thanks George for the great weekend. I mowed the alfalfa a couple of times. Who do I send the invoice to?

Oh yeah...... Forgot to add. The chicks REALLY DIG Larry and his coupe. They were just gaw gaw over him. Especially the paramedic. And she was a hottie. You should have seen Jackie muscle her way between those two.

We are going to put Georges track to the test next year! By the way Steve why don't you bring that Mustang of yours to Run N Gun this year with Larry? It looks like a replica to me?

Steve, I once heard the only way to make a small fortune in racing is to start out with a large fortune. More speed = More money.

Here are a couple more videos...(Jackie certainly makes better cookies than she does making movies.)

Run N Gun is fairly inexpensive compared to some of the other venues around but believe me I understand about the cost of everything today. We would like to see you again, I would just like to think I could stay close enough to you to make a movie with you pulling away! By the way we have one replica Camero coming to RNG this year.

Thanks George,

I think that's the only time I'm ahead of Larry. I will cherish this video.

Next time I go back home, I need to take a trip out there. Be nice if I could time it for a time during one of these events with the Cobras.

OK, not to bore you all, but here's one more. When we're still talking before our last race where he "rubbed" me off the track. (See video above)

A photo of a REAL replica and a REAL clone!

Hmmmm.... maybe Road Atlanta next year?
