You need have everything checked; play in tie rods, steering rack, trueness of your brake rotors if you really want to track it down if it is not the obvious stuff.

It's part of Obama's overall plan to avoid changing the national speed limit to 70+ MPH.

hey al,
ok well that displaces our therory that only superformance has this problem. as for as air pressures. rodger kraus says to run 24 front and 22 rear. i have since noticed that the tread is thinner in the center than the edges. indicating over inflation. so i have since lowered to 23 & 21. i think it seems to help alittle but still got the wobbles

I'm bumping this back up to see if I may have found the cause of my problem at least. Last year I stored my cobra on four of these wheel dollies from Summit Racing. Later the wheels were found to be "out of round" (see my post above). I am now wondering if the dollies caused the problem.
Anyone else have any experience with them?

I had the tires on a CR and never could get them right. A miserable year of Cobra driving. All the shops and techs said "it was the bias ply...get radials young man". As far as your tire dolleys go, did you have the problem before using them? BTW-I did switch back to radials and what an improvement. Good luck.

UK-
Your dollies made the problem no worse than a concrete garage floor would. The tires get round in warmer weather after 4-5 miles of use and elevated tire temp.
Live with it or get Avons.

I was looking really closely at three sets of Billboards I have here. I noticed some variation in concentricity of the tires at the mold centerline. It looked like the mold either had worn alignment pins or that the mold could be put together one way or another with one being slightly out of line.

I have seen that also-a noticeable 'hop' at mold line when rotated on a Bear or Hunter machine.
Can shaving improve that Mick?

ok for ****s and giggles... my car had a vib also mind you it wasnt billboards, i had a road force balance done and it did cure the problem... i would say about 95% of it. NOW... having my car on stands for the winter months i was just checking over everything and and for the hell of it i spin the front wheel and notice a wobble in the rim....... im like what the hell, the rim is brand new with a brand new tire with less than 300 miles on it. but yet theres a wobble when looking at the rim as i spin it by hand, so try to spin your rims with the front end up on a jack or a stand, wont take more then 5 min per side, you never know.... it might be the same problem i have. im still looking into it on my car for when i look at the centre of the rim where the spinner goes on, there is also a wobble on it, so im guessing i have an issue with the rotor or the spinner adapter. also i didnt have this problem "vib" with my 15 inch rims and rubber but i have it now with the 17 inch rims. its got me guessing thats for sure.

I know there have been countless postings on the Goodyear Billboards pros and cons, but I decided to go with them and absolutely love the look and overall performance of them.
The one issue I have is they do have a vibration when I'm driving between 62 and 67mph. I know several others have this same issue with Superformances and the Goodyear Billboards.
My question is this Goodyear Billboard vibration common on all makes (CXS, Backdraft, Factory five, ERA, etc..) or just the Superformances?
And Any recommendations on how to get rid of it? I have already had them road force balanced off and on the car.
Thanks,
Dan

Had the same problem. Couldn't get the damn vibration to disappear from 60-70 MPH. Had Hunter and Roadforce balance, rotated the tire on the wheel. No dice.
Solution (even though the left front wheel was slightly out of round) find an old school tire guy that uses a 40 year old balancing machine that balances the entire rotating assembly while on the car. Off the car won't do it. The guy will jack up the front and spin one wheel up to 80 MPH and then let it gradually slow down. He will put his hand on the front fender or watch the rear view mirror to see if it vibrates at all while the tire slows down. He will then add and move weights around until there is no vibration to the fender/mirror at any speed.
It works, but the younger guys in most shops will have never heard of this method. Hot rod shops will know someone. I paid $25 per wheel.
These artists are few and far between. Luckily I have a guy that specializes in this method. Call around, somebody will know a shop that still practices this method.
If they can't do it, replace the tire.

Jim,
I tried that as well. That device looked like is was made in the 50's. It kept blowing the fuses in the shop. We would spin each front wheel up to 80mph and not a single vibration on the fender or rear view mirror.
I'm open to hear any other ideas...
Thanks,
Dan

We're trying to get everything round under some kind of load and also balanced. If you have a stand and dial indicator you can check the runout of your rims on the car. Factory specs can be excessive on wheels. Tires can be shaved to make them round. Balancing can be done to a higher level on some machines. I do our race cars on a machine where you can just push the start button or hold it down for a better balance. The Goodyears flatspot like crazy from parking warm on cold concrete. I would think those stands make a weird double flat spot. It usually shakes out after warming them up.

Mine are radials. I made the problem go away by having the tyres shaved and balanced as posted earlier, as driving them was not making it any better. It did seem to coincide with using the dollies, but I can't prove cause and effect. In future I am going to use the dollies to position the car in the garage (I need to keep it tight against the back wall to get the other cars in for winter), and then use the floor jack to lift the car enough to slide the dollies out. Of course it will be a major PIA if I want to get the car out for a winters drive......
