Maybe Ed McMahon is at my door with my check.

You guys are dreaming. Do you realize that they only produce something like 300 sets of these tires per year? You'll be lucky if all the emails don't result in them simply killing the tire to make everyone leave them alone.

I already talked to Corky and he will not make the tire!!!!!!!! I even told him I would be interested in a large letter Radial Firestone Tire. The answer was a big NO!!!! It is funny cause I heard they were working on a 60's Firestone Indy Car Tire.

I didn't know this thread was on here . About 6 months ago after I got a big no on a large letter radial tire from Corky Coker I wrote to Goodyear and they said they would not build a billboard radial tire!!!! The clown from Goodyear that answered me was even a little rude about it!!! They could care less about what us Cobra guys would like to have. ( Coker Tire and Goodyear!!!)

Did either say why they wouldn't? Not enough volume I would guess.

Yes but Coker is making tires for cars that are way less popular then our Cobra's. He has an ad out today about a large whitewall for the new flea-aut 500. Also some of the tires he makes for some of the older cars are less volume of potential of future sales. We all need to get on the Coker Tire site and tell Corky he needs to develope a new large letter radial tire for our Cobra's. I don't think he relly realizes how many of this type tires he could sell. If he really is going to make a Firestone large letter tire for old indy cars the dimemsions would not be that much different from our Cobra's. Just a thought. Mark

I e-mailed Mickey Thompson yesterday and asked if they would consider a "Cobra style vintage tread pattern" for their M/T S/R and just received a response from a tech this morning. The tech said they had no plans to offer a different tread pattern but he would submitt the request for consideration. Maybe we should see if we can persuade M/T to do a vintage tread on their DOT radial S/R. They have 26x8-15, 26x10-15 and 26x12-15 sizes and are H speed rated. Any thoughts on this?

Much more likely than a complete new tire, although it would require new molds. An OK tire, but no where near the performance of Avons.

A little over 5 years ago there was NO Cobra size high performance radial tires. Now we have Avons. Count your blessings, gentlemen. It is amazing that anyone would manufacture a tire for a market the size we offer.

actually when I spoke to a UK Avons vendor, they told me the bulk of their orders were for the increasing numbers of GT40s - popular for the rep and real road-going cars, but even more popular with the racers - the racers will order 3-4 sets each when a race meet is coming up, so I was told.
