Default Milestar STREETSTEEL tires

Has anyone tried these 15-inch tires on there Cobra? Done some internet research on the parent company seem to be import/distribution of tires?

Made by Nankang Rubber Tire: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nankang_Rubber_Tire

Other comments seen elsewhere indicate Milestar brand tires may also be manufactured by one or more Chinese tire companies, other than Nankang (e.g. SHANDONG YONGSHENG RUBBER CO., LTD., HANGZHOU ZHONGCE RUBBER CO., LTD.)

I looked at some of the good ratings (e.g. 4.6/5), but those were all from owners of Honda Accords or Toyota Camrys. I'm not questioning those owners' decisions for their DDs, but I wouldn't put these on a Cobra - the Taiwanese and Chinese tire companies are getting better, but putting those on a Cobra seems 'penny-wise and pound foolish' IMO.

tamanaco,

Another reason to avoid these tires is their wear rating of 440.

That's a good long life indicator for a street tire on a daily driver-type sedan, but I think it's not too good for a Cobra as the traction suffers whenever the treadwear rating is increased. Lower wear rating tires will last many thousands of miles on a Cobra.

The higher wear rating tires do not respond well on a Cobra if you need to do something in a hurry like braking or steering to avoid an obstacle - mostly they just suddenly slide. Don't ask how I learned this...

I'm not familiar with 15" sizes so I'd suggest looking for a 200 wear rating tire. This is the stickiest DOT approved tire. They provide better traction in the dry for sure - you could pay attention to users comments about wet traction once you identify the stickier tires.

If all you want to do is make clouds of tire smoke, the 400 and higher wear rating tires will be fine LOL

Enjoy,

Tom

I put this brand tire on my 1990 Country Squire wagon because not many companies make tires that size with white walls. The price was cheap as hell but its a station wagon. I would not put this brand tire on my Cobra, they are cheap for a reason IMO.
